Top 10 German 70.s heavy progressive krautrock albums

As you may notice by watchin´this, my favourite German label is Philips and favourite year is 1971 when it comes to heavy progressive Krautrock, as always many great bands didnt find space here. Blackwater Park, Armageddon, Message, Tiger B Smith, Kin Ping Meh, Asterix and Gift, fell just outside this list.

Krautrock - The Rebirth of Germany (BBC Documentary) - Full Version

BBC Four Documentary which looks at how a radical generation of musicians created a new German musical identity out of the cultural ruins of war. Between 1968 and 1977 bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk would look beyond western rock and roll to create some of the most original and uncompromising music ever heard. They shared one common goal - a forward-looking desire to transcend Germany's gruesome past - but that didn't stop the music press in war-obsessed Britain from calling them Krautrock. Music played 1. Popol Vuh — Aguirre I L'acrime de Rey 2. Jimi Hendrix — All Along the Watchtower 3. Richard Wagner — Siegfried's Funeral Music 4. Amon Düül II — Kannan 5. Amon Düül II — Luzifer's Ghilom 6. Popol Vuh — Wehe Khorazin 7. Popol Vuh — Aguirre II 8. Tangerine Dream — Phaedra 9. Cluster — Fur Die Katz 10. Tangerine Dream — Fly and collision of Cosmo Sola 11. CAN — Mother Sky 12. CAN — Vitamin C 13. Kraftwerk — Autobahn 14. Neu! — Hallogallo 15. Faust — Krautrock 16. Kraftwerk — Showroom Dummies 17. Kraftwerk — Geiger Counter 18. Kraftwerk — Radioactivity 19. Harmonia — Watussi 20. David Bowie — A New Career in a New Town

Krautrock Classics - Notwehr - GURU GURU - DVD Trailer

Notwehr On DVD Now! available at amazon(dot)de The rock band Rattenfänger (Rat-Catchers), played by the german Krautrock legend Guru Guru, moves to the small village of Ebenrein to compose in the peace and quiet of the country-side. The villagers and the local councillor (Erik Schumann) are not at all enthusiastic about the arrival of the young band. They worry that their presence will introduce a criminal element into the village's pastoral existence. A small number of locals try to dispel the prejudices of their peers, thus dividing the village into two factions. The situation becomes criitical after the band's leader and drummer Mani Neumeier starts a relationship with the under-age daughter of the local building contractor, Bergmann (played by Friedrich von Thun). The builder's foreman Hans Zilke (Günter Lamprecht) is disturbed one evening outside his house by a gang of youngsters and shoots blindly into the group, killing a young girl, one of the band's groupies. Zilke claims to have fired in self-defence, saying the youngsters were trying to break into his house.....

Space Debris - Krautrock-Sessions 1994-2001 ( Full Album ).wmv

Space Debris are a german band whose music will transport you back 30 years to the pioneering days of Krautrock and Progressive influenced Psychedelia. Influences range from Amon Düül and Can on the one hand to a psychedelicious take on the Santana, Allman Brothers, and early Deep Purple stylings. "Space Debris create a dazzling and complicated blend of 70's style classic rock jams, Krautrock, space rock, psychedelia and fusion jazz. It's mostly instrumental, with tracks often stretching into the 15 and 20-minute range, but never seeming that long, and the musicianship, I have to say, is outstanding on every level. Space Debris are best in the environment of their extended pieces, which give all the players a chance to stretch out and really do some exploring, and explore they do. The band has a beautiful sense of drama as they build their pieces from simple beginnings through numerous twists and turns to spectacular conclusions without things ever once sounding disjointed. It all flows so naturally, it's a pleasure to hear such complicated music played with such obvious ease and enjoyment." Frob - Spheres [1976 Krautrock]

Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. Frob came from Rheda-Wiedenbrück in the east of Westphalia and played instrumental jazz-rock including progressive elements. Their great ability is demonstrated on their one and only LP which is quite relaxing and unpretentious. It was recorded in winter 1975 1976 in Southern France. With Philippe Caillat who then worked as a music teacher (and by now has released quite some jazz records) they had a guitarist of top quality at hand but the other three musicians were his equals in every way. "Frob" (Musikladen ML 002) was released in 1976 in a number of 1000 copies and is graded in "4001 Record Collector Dreams" (Vienna 2003) by Hans Pokora with two units. My Solid Ground - Dirty Yellow Mist [1971 Krautrock]

Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. This obscure Krautrock record from 1971 has long been considered a classic of the genre, and the first track, the 13-minute "Dirty Yellow Mist," certainly lives up to its reputation, as the group goes into dark space rock that sounds like something between Pink Floyd and Thirsty Moon, with lots of long keyboard drones, a crunchy guitar riff, some acid guitar licks, and some distorted spoken vocals, as well as some higher-pitched wordless chanting. Unfortunately, much of the rest of the record does not live up to the promise of that first track, coming off like a typical early-'70s hard rock band, with belted vocals and maybe some occasionally interesting guitar work. "That's You" has enough energy to be proto-punk, and certainly its chorus of "do you wanna die" doesn't weaken that impression. Far more notable is the track "The Executioner," a sinister piece that alternates between echoed-spoken vocals and intense guitar solos. The rest of the original album is too mainstream, but thankfully the CD adds another album's worth of bonus tracks, and some of these are really good, especially the original full-length version of "Flash," a 24-minute tour de force of guitar solo blitzkrieg between a variety of segued pieces, some of which are far better than the two-minute cut that ended up on the LP. Other bonus tracks include some instrumental versions of songs and a stripped-down version of ...
