Kreisler plays Kreisler-Liebesleid

This is Fritz Kreisler playing his own peice Liebeslied (sorry I don't have a video). I am in love with Kreisler's sound. His playing is so romantic, elegant, and beautiful that he must be regarded as one of the great violinists of all time. Plus, who can argue with a violinist who wrote the damn peice in the first place?

Georg Kreisler - Kapitalistenlied

(Rare!) Fritz Kreisler's 80th Birthday Interview (Part 1) (1955-02-02)

Quite a rare material. Fritz Kreisler is interviewed by Abraham Chasens, the musical manager of WQXR Radio station, on his 80th birthday, February 2nd, 1955. This was special tribute program broadcasted on that day. And as far as I know, this is the only recording of Kreisler's voice which was commercially available. (except for few other radio transcriptions and newsreel soundtracks). Before the interview, we can hear "transcribed greetings" of his collegues, Mischa Elman, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein, Erica Morini, Joseph Szigeti, Ruggiero Ricci, Isaac Stern. While the actual interview recordings are playing, you can see the photos of Kreisler and cellist Pablo Casals' having conversation in 1958 (Courtesy of the LIFE magazine)

Mischa Elman plays Fritz Kreisler: "Sicilienne and Rigaudon in the style of Francoeur"

Mischa Elman (1891 - 1967) and Fritz Kreisler (1875 - 1962) were two well-known recording violinists in the early part of the 20. century whose popularity diminished as their older, more "romantic" style grew out of fashion. Although Elman's early discs display a much tighter technical grasp of the instrument, his LPs give a rare insight into what this style of performance sounds like when heard through the full spectrum of sound. Here Elman performs Kreisler's piece "Sicilienne and rigaudon in the style oof Francoer".
