HELGI SALLO (born in 1941), one of the most beloved artists in Estonia, has performed for 45 years with equal success in operas, operettas, musicals, drama plays and TV serials. Helgi Sallo has not got any special musical education, but her talent was discovered in 1964 and she became a soloist at the Estonian National Opera. Her first role was Maria in "West Side Story". Thereafter followed Pipi the Long-Stocking, Aldonza in "Man of la Mancha", Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", Musetta in "La Bohème", Madeleine in "Bal im Savoy", Sally and Frl Schneider in "Cabaret", Countess Zedlau in "Wiener Blut", Hanna Glawari in "The Merry Widow", Dolly in "Hello Dolly" and many others. This duet of Mariza and Tassilo from Act II of the operetta by Imre Kálmán "Countess Mariza" ("Gräfin Mariza") is recorded in 1991 at the Estonian National Opera. Helgi Sallos partner is one of the most appreciated tenors in Estonia of the last century Ivo Kuusk. The orchestra is conducted by Jüri Alperten. ........................ See duett Ivo Kuusega opereti "Krahvinna Mariza" II vaatusest on salvestatud 1991. aastal.
