After a few dissapointments with 600+ EUR notebooks I bought one of the cheapest avaliable. I got the Toshiba Satellite L300D-21P (PSLCGE-002001GR) for 299 EUR (419$) incl. shipping. It's a nice device, ok, it has not the same quality as a Thinkpad, Sony or what else, it's made of plastic, but it has a silent fan, good speakers, the keyboard is ok (a bit loud), the screen is good and bright, better than some Samsung or Thinkpad screens I saw before. Specs are: - AMD Sempron SI-40 (2 GHZ singlecore), 512KB Cache - 1 GB RAM (I upgraded it to 2GB, otherwise BF2 runs with lags) - 120 GB Harddisk (Toshiba 5400rpm) - DVD Writer - ATI 3100 with shared mem - 3x USB 2.0/Modem/LAN/WLAN 802.11bg - ExpressCard Slot - 15.4" WXGA glare TFT (1280x800) The video shows BF2 with medium details at 1280x800, view range at 100%

Yep. Damn thing crashed with an "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" BSOD. Stupid thing. Oh, and I will NOT install another OS on my Satellite, and even though I explained why in this video, I'll make another one detailing why. Oh, chkdsk did NOT work, and I recommend using fixboot instead.

In a nutshell, my mom purchased a VGA cable with the intent of connecting a laptop to the tv in the living room and using it as an output device for the laptop, but it isn't working and it isn't clear what the nature pf the problem is, I would put it down to drivers but then there was no disk included with the cable so that makes it unlikley.
