Der 1955 in Algier geborene Fotoreporter ist dem mittelamerikanischen Land El Salvador seit dem verheerenden Bürgerkrieg in den 80er Jahren verbunden. Damals gründeten Bürgerkriegsflüchtlinge in den Elendsvierteln der hispanischen Barrios in Los Angeles Jugendbanden. Bei ihrer Heimkehr brachten sie die Büchse der Pandora mit - die Gangs in den Armenvierteln der Hauptstadt San Salvador sind ein importiertes Problem.
