Kung Fu Hustle: The Blade of Gu Qin English Dub

I had to edit the unimportant stuff to make it less than 10 min. I also got some cool info from tsinoy147 and his video. it is shown below (Note: This video is not mine.) Ripped from the DVD of Kung Fu Hustle Kung Fu Hustle is a humorous parody and a special tribute to the wuxia genre, played and directed by Stephen Chow. The Harpists are a pair of hitmen dressed in long grey robes, sunglasses and broad rimmed hats; who where hired by the Axe Gang to rid of Coolie, Donut, and Tailor. They are highly knowledgable about their opponents and knew who they were and their fighting styles before the Axe gang hired them, though they where quite suprised to find the Lions Roar actually existed. Their weapon of choice is an (immensely over-sized) Gu qin-Guzheng hybrid. Although capable of melee combat, they much prefer to use their special fighting style, Deadly Melody. They can use their qi to focus and mold the sound waves produced by the instrument into a range of deadly forms, ranging from scimitars, to fists and even a small legion of sword-wielding undead in ancient Chinese armor. The ability is not purely offensive; it can be used to form a protective "wall" that actively blocks and forcibly repels incoming weapons. With practically every string they play from their musical instrument, killer objects, usually almost invisible, would fly from it, aiming for the unfortunate target. The first harpist appears to be the older of the two. He fights Tailor in his shop and proves to ...

Around the World of Hero Online

According to ancient legend, the hero, Qin Shi Huangdi (also known as Qin Shi Huang), put an end to an age of chaos and turmoil by unifying China. Calling himself the "Son of the Sky", Qin Shi Huangdi dreamed of one day becoming immortal. So passionate was his ambition, Emperor Huangdi sent over 500 young boys and girls to Trinity Mountain as sacrifices, and hundreds of Taoist mystics throughout the land in order to ascertain the secrets of immortality. Tirelessly and mercilessly, Huangdi sought out and extinguished all those who opposed him while trying everything in his power to become a god. Alas, as is the way of all mortal things, Qin Shi Huang was unable to prevent his death or the fall of his Imperial dynasty. All traces of his glory and wealth vanished from the world when his palace, Ah-Bang Palace, burned down after his death. Many years later in the age of our fathers, two decades ago, the sun disappeared as darkness spread throughout the heavens and the earth. In this darkness, Twelve men, "Demons", mysteriously appeared shaking the very foundations of the earth with their chaos and destruction. During this time many houses and clans banded together to fight the Demons, but to no avail. The famed houses of Tae-San Pa of San-Dong, Gun-Pa of Hae-Nam, Bok-Gun, Kwang-Dong, Myo-Gang, Sa-Chun, Ok-Mun Guan, Dae-Mak, and San Suh all fell under the hands of the Twelve Demons, leaving the people of the land helpless and fearful. Chinese listening practice through storytelling - 荆轲刺秦王(pt. 1 of 3)

Hoping I can provide some interesting listening practice for those of you who have started to learn Mandarin recently. Sorry for reading kind of poorly; this was my first time actually reading in front of my camera. Links about Ancient China: Jing Ke (荆轲): en.wikipedia.org The King of Qin (秦王): en.wikipedia.org Prince Dan of Yan (燕丹): en.wikipedia.org Fan Wuji (樊于期): en.wikipedia.org The State of Yan (燕国): en.wikipedia.org The State of Yan (秦国): en.wikipedia.org The Warring States Period (战国时代): en.wikipedia.org The Story (in English): Jing Ke's attempt to assassinate the King of the State of Qin (荆轲刺秦王) About 2000 years ago, China was still in the Warring States period. But the State of Qin had already become very strong. It was about to defeat and annex all the other big states. During that time in China there were a lot of chivalrous warriors, who were very skillful in marital arts. If they felt enough loyalty to someone they would work for that person even though the job might cost them their lives. They were not afraid to die in order to prove their loyalty. Jing Ke was one of these chivalrous warriors. At that time the State of Yan was losing many battles to the State of Qin and a lot of her land had been taken away by the State of Qin. The prince of the State of Yan was called Prince Dan. He treated Jing Ke very well and gave him whatever he wanted. He wanted Jing Ke to pretend to be a diplomat in order to go see the king of Qin. china tour 2010 10m

Touring Tai Chi's Birthplace by Maureen Miller For ten days in April and May, I traveled through Chinese cities, towns and countryside. While this tour was planned months ago, it grew from a seed sown years ago. Conceived as homeward journey for Dr. Paul Lam, an Australian physician and the founder of the Tai Chi for Health program, and a varied learning experience for those of us who chose join him. Physically, the China Dr. Paul introduced to us is a country of contrasts, full of yin and yang: old-new, big-small, grey-gaudy, crowds-emptiness. The variety of Chinese treasures, we soon discovered, is awesome. It's disparity in living and working conditions, eye-opening. Culturally, the gulf we Westerners felt, in understanding this country and people, was wide. But Dr. Paul and his wife, Eunice, were always there to help us to bridge this gap, as was our fantastic local guide, Carol Lu. Our tour began in Beijing, China's most renown and capital city, with a population of over 14 million. A three day stay in this bustling place provided time for acclimatization, as well as an introduction to China's history, culture and food. With Carol and her bright yellow flag as our leader, we toured a number of ancient and spectacular sites; the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners proved an opportunity to practice our chopstick handling. Evenings found us comfortably ensconced in a five star hotel. The highlight ...

China's Economy in 2010: A Forum at the NYSE - Part 2 - CCER Economists

In this video, four CCER economists focus on Chinas economy in the New Year. CCERs quarterly forecast is widely read by Chinese policy makers. CCER economists Yao Yang, Wu Ho-Mou, Feng Lu and Huang Yiping will present their forecast and share their research and analysis of several pressing questions: the trajectory of the yuan-dollar exchange rate, the viability of Chinas export-led model, the prospects for and implications of liberalizing the countrys land and energy markets, and the ongoing effects of the Chinese governments stimulus efforts. As China's economy influences virtually every aspect of the US economy and financial markets, understanding its trajectory informs every decision that we make. This event was both developed and organized by the National Committee on United States-China Relations in partnership with China Center for Economic Research (CCER) and hosted by the New York Stock Exchange on January 7, 2010.

THE FIRST EMPEROR: China's Terracotta Army

THE FIRST EMPEROR: China's Terracotta Army EDITED BY JANE PORTAL Book Number: 69332 Product format: Hardback Published in 2007, this first edition exhibition catalogue accompanied a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition at the British Museum. This important book explores the tangible evidence of Qin Shihuangdi's existence, his great achievements and his vision. The chance discovery in 1974 of the life-sized Terracotta Army of the First Emperor of China (221-210BC) astounded the world. Haunting lines of warriors were revealed, frozen for all time in clay. For over 2000 years they had silently guarded the vast tomb complex of one of the greatest military leaders in history. He rose from his position as King of the Qin in Western China to conquer the six other major states and control a vast territory. He ordered 120000 families to move to his new capital and summoned 700000 men from all over the empire to build his tomb. He bequeathed a legacy to China that long affected the rise and fall of dynasties, shaped the form of government and established firm, authoritarian ways of governing the land and its peoples. Jane Portal is joined by other leading historical scholars whose research is based on recent excavations and topics include imperial tours and mountain inscriptions, the afterlife of the universe, the Terracotta Army, armour and entertainment in the afterlife and more. With full list of exhibits, each is beautifully photographed in colour together with floor plans, paintings ...

Well Ok, if you insist I will teach you from the list But I'd rather drink my coffee and make you take a pop quiz But we'll start from the beginning way back in the day a couple hundred thousand years ago we started out this way: We were all living in Africa in small nomadic bands we were hunting, we were gathering but then we did expand so humans lived in the middle east and then covered asia too and we found Oceania [oh shee AN ee ah] and Europe followed suit But then some groups were probably following animals and crossed the Bering Strait and stumbled in to the Americas we'll catch up with them late r 'cause half the world away some big stuff was happening some folks gave up the nomad life they starting farming We got the Tigris uh uh Euphrates Uh Uh Mesopotamia Uh Uh in the Fertile Crescent So as I mentioned Agriculture was changing human's lives they couldn't move from place to place they had to stay by their farm's side So thus began the first civilizations that we know and as they grew a surplus [extra food] that changed stuff even more see now we're seeing rulers now we've got a lower class and now we're seeing Sumerians' ziggurats wheels, plows, and canals The Sumerians also made one of the biggest inventions yet cuneiform was the first writing system it helped merchants ...

The Hubei Song And Dance Ensemble: The Imperial Bells of China: Cultivating the Land

The title "Imperial Bells of China" is something of a misnomer, since the bells used in this splendid performance and recording were the property of the Marquis Yi of Zheng during the Warring States period, about two hundred years before the King of Qin declared himself Emperor. But never mind any of that. Just enjoy this noble music, played on instruments over 2400 years old!

After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Xiang Yu proclaimed himself "Hegemon-King of Western Chu" (西楚霸王) and ruled a vast area of land. He engaged Liu Bang (刘邦), founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, in a long struggle for power, known as the Chu--Han Contention, that concluded with his eventual defeat and suicide at the bank of the Wu River. His Death Xiang Yu retreated to Wu River and the ferryman at the ford prepared a boat for him to cross the river, strongly encouraging him to do so because Xiang Yu still had the support of the people from his homeland in the south. Xiang Yu said that he was too ashamed to return home and face his people because none of the first 8000 men from Jiangdong who followed him on his conquests managed to survive. [MV] Dedication and Loyalty to the Country 精忠报国

Many people in the west believe that Chinese are in general motivated by an irrational nationalism cultivated by the communist party to secure its political hold on the country. This is why some of the protests by Chinese nationals overseas have been labeled as "rebirth of the red guards". Personally, I think this misunderstanding reflects a lack of knowledge about Chinese history, which in the thousand years past have been filled with foreign invasions and civil wars. We Chinese are peace lovers, but our own history has taught us that unification as a country, especially in the face of foreign threats has always been the prerequisite for a peaceful life. This music video is by the singer Tu HongGang, who was trained as a Beijing opera singer, but turned into a pop singer in the late 80's and early 90's. The song is entitled 精忠报国, which translates to 'dedication and loyalty to the country,' or 'serve the country with the utmost loyalty.' The phrase by itself originates from the story of Yue Fei, "a famous Chinese patriot and military general who fought for the Southern Song Dynasty against the Jurchen armies of the Jin Dynasty. Since his political execution by the traitor Qin Hui, Yue Fei has evolved into the standard model of loyalty in Chinese culture." According to legends, his mother tattooed these four characters across his back before he left home to join the army in 1122. More on his story can be found here: en.wikipedia.org Note the first picture on the right ...

City God Temple, Shanghai CN

City God Temple (15th century onward) Like the Ancient Greeks, the Chinese traditionally believe that guardian gods watch over their cities. The first temple to the God of Shanghai was founded in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) when a shrine was erected to the City God of Huating County. However, the Huating shrine was located in Danjing Temple, far from its current location. The present site was first used during the reign of Emperor Yongle (1403-1425) in the Ming Dynasty. A statue of General Huo Guang of the Han Dynasty was enshrined in the front hall, while a statue of Qin Yubo, the god of the City, rested in the back hall. Qin Yubo is a Taoist deity renowned for his character and learning. Legends say that in the early Ming dynasty Qin Yubo was a righteous scholar who, out of disdain for politics, refused to become a court official. Upon his death in 1377, the emperor lamented that he never succeeded in luring the honest official to the central government, which was rife with corruption. The emperor decided to honor him posthumously by bestowing on him the status of Deity. Charged with protecting the land, the spirit of Qin Yubo is thought to be active in Shanghai even today. The area around the temple has grown into a thriving market, with over 100 stores selling all kinds of traditional products. Most of the store buildings are nearly a century old. ~ Located next to the Yu Garden and also known today as the Yu Garden Market, the City God Temple was built in the ...

I can't seem to develop it to where I am playing in time. This badness flips over to my soloing. As I said, I have this trouble with relating to anything rhythmic. I'm starting to feel rhythmically debilitated. Any tips from you would simply rule! Kenny -- New York, USA A: I'd like to state up-front that rhythmic ability is one of the most neglected practices by guitar players. Keep in mind, without being able to play in time, it won't matter how good you are at things like; note-choice, scales, dynamics, technique, or harmony. Playing in time is an integral part of the framework that's necessary to help both you & your band-mates stay on-top of the beat. That internal "click-track" in your mind isn't just about being able to tap your foot. It's more like a musical compass for -- Not Becoming Lost in the Land of the Beat! 陶渊明桃花源記The Tale of the Peach Blossom Spring 晉太元中,武陵人,捕魚為業,緣溪行,忘路之遠近。Once a time there was a fisherman whose native land was called Wuling, in the Taiyuan Period of Time of the Jin Dynasty [265-420], China. He was walking along a creek-riverside, with no sense of how far away from his start. 忽逢桃花林,夾岸數百步,中無雜樹,芳草鮮美,落英繽紛,漁人甚異之。All of a sudden, he was surprised to find a Peach-Blossom-Grove, and on both sides across the creek with hundreds-of-feet-wide land, no other trees but peach ones grow with fresh and sweet grass petals falling in riotous profusion. 復前行,欲窮其林。林盡水源,便得一山。山有小口,彷佛若有光。便捨船,從口入。初極狹,才通人。復行數十步,豁然開朗。Going on forward, he wanted to pass through the whole grove reaching a fountainhead near a mountain. There was a small hole seemingly glittering in front of the mountain. And he left his boat, entering the hole as an open door being so narrow that only one man could press himself to penetrate into it. The complex sits on land owned by the Ngee Ann Kongsi, part of a parcel of land known as Tai Shan Ting, bounded by the Orchard, Paterson and Grange roads. Tai Shan Ting was one of the several burial grounds owned and managed by the Kongsi. The cemetery was cleared in 1957 and parcels of land were leased for 99 years to Mandarin Hotel, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard and the Indonesian government (now Wisma Atria). 'We deeply regret the Indian side's remarks, which take no regard of the historical facts,' Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said after Mukherjee's weekend visit to the north-eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Qin said China would express its position to India 'in an appropriate way,' after Mukherjee on Sunday claimed that China was 'fully aware that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.' 'China and India have never officially settled demarcation of borders, and China's stance on the eastern section of China-India borders is consistent and clear-cut,' Qin told reporters. 'China is willing to find a solution that is fair, reasonable and acceptable to the two sides through peaceful and friendly negotiation in the spirit of mutual understanding and adjustment,' he said. India and China established a joint working group in 1988 to find a solution to the border disagreements. They still dispute large areas along their 4000-kilometre border after a brief border war fought in the Himalayas in 1962. They have held 12 rounds of talks, the latest in September, since they appointed special representatives in 2003 to explore solutions to their long-standing border disputes. The US journal Foreign Policy wrote in an article named "Next Year, in Review" about the outspoken criticism of the Chinese regime, on issues from train wrecks to smog. With more overt campaigns between factions in the Chinese regime, and the spread of social media, China's new leaders should expect to have a more fractious constituency and a tougher time maintaining central control of the world's emerging superpower. The Japan Times also wrote that the current crisis faced by CCP leaders is similar to that of 1989, such as freedom of press, corruption and nepotism, and the legality of CCP. Meanwhile, the CCP is also facing environmental issues, as well as social security and medical problems, which were not involved in 1989. The conflict between Chinese people's press for human rights and the CCP's power is escalating. A certificated public accountant in Beijing, Du Yanlin, said that he is thinking about the possible changes in China in 2012, but reflects that things in China are hard to predict.
