Tengo entendido usted participo con ahínco y esfuerzo en la elaboración musical de dicha banda. Tony: El Latin Soul fue un grupo de jóvenes que cantaba en armonización, yo los descubrí a ellos y pensaba que si le poníamos a los sonidos armonízados de ellos — música latina — iba a gustar. Néstor: (interpela Néstor) ¿Ellos eran americanos? Tony: No, ellos eran latinos pero cantaban en ingles, puramente en ingles. Entonces yo le compuse un número que se llamaba La Banda, decía "La Banda, play the caballo beat". Tú te acuerdas que "Caballo beat" era de la pachanga. Néstor: ¿Qué significaba "caballo beat"? Tony: "Caballo beat" era que las congas sonaba: "para pa, pa, cunta, cunta" y la gente bailaba la pachanga y sacaba los pañuelos. Néstor: ¿El primer tema que grabó Latin Soul fue "La Banda"? Tony: Sí, "La Banda" y eso fue un "palo" grandísimo. Néstor: ¿Pero los pianos se parecen a los de Pete Rodríguez? Tony: Sí, porque era la orquesta de nosotros (la banda de Pete Rodríguez) apoyando a los Latin Soul. Néstor: ¿Cuántos integrantes tenía Latin Soul? Manny Corchado, featuring Tito Jimenez, made the 1967 Decca album Aprovecha El Tiempo(Swing While You Can) to try and please both American and the Latin record markets. Pow-Wow, written by Manny himself, is recorded in the boogaloo rhythm which was the current dance craze for both young Latin and American dancers. "Pow-Wow has a weird native American groove that's totally great - lots of "woo woo woo" vocal bits at the beginning, and percussion that sounds like it's on the warpath - but also plenty of rolling Latin Soul piano lines, brassy horns, and spoken lyrics in Spanish."
