A coil of #22 magnet wire (5.5 inches in diameter w/ 100 turns) is energized with 120 volts AC (60 Hz) as it rests upon a .50" thick aluminum plate. As a result the coil will levitate as dictated by Lenz's Law. Unfortunately this design uses a tremendous amount of current and is prone to rapid heating. Further experimentation regarding coil size, voltage, frequency, and materials may improve its operation.

And even then, comment at your own risk...lol: www.youtube.com The only explanation that makes sense to me to account for the decrease in input amp draw from the original steady-state, is an Anti-Lenz type effect. Tell me what you think. In the vid the coil is putting out 72 VDC x 0.06 A = 4.32 Watts...under normal circumstances, this should slow the wheel considerably and cause the amp draw of the drill to rise considerably as well. In this vid, the amp draw of the drill goes down approximately 0.2 A...so that's also an input wattage savings of 12vdc x 0.2A = 2.4 Watts...do you see where this leads?...lol. Prior to making the vid, I ran the AC (80vac) from the coil through an incandescent bulb (20W bulb-made it glow red) with the exact same result as in the vid. I also tried running the 72vdc 0.06A straight into another deep cycle 12v battery that I have and it instantly started to charge slowly with the same results as in the vid. Also, just for clarification, the magnet poles are alternating and they attract through the core. The channel that I mention in the vid is ThaneCHeins. The effect that he demonstrates is the same but my coil design is a bit different...it has an Ed Leedskalnin aspect to it. My coil needs refining/testing...it could be much better...and more need to be made. Thane describes the effect in his videos very well and shows how it can be explained with everyday <b>...</b>

Demonstration of a unique top designed by Scott A. Stevenson that levitates in mid air based upon Lenz's law. The top consists of a round machined carbon fiber disc that houses 6 equally radially spaced neodymium magnet tabs of N53 strength. Each magnet has an opposite polar orientation relative to its neighbor. In order for optimum levitation to occur the top needs to spin at upwards of 10000 rpm. To achieve this speed in the simple setup demonstrated here the top is spun up via a key and chuck system made for a dremel tool. This top's levitation dies out very quickly due to the magnetic drag set up in forming the eddy currents that create the opposing fields. In this instance the top's lightweight gyroscopic inertia competes against this significant drag (magnetic braking). It is probably the case that an "ideal" gryoscopic inertia profile vs. weight could be calculated which would correspondingly allow for a longer levitation effect.
