Leonid Kogan interview Kogan was born in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, the son of a photographer who was an amateur violinist. After showing an early interest and ability for violin playing, his family moved to Moscow, where he was able to further his studies. From age ten he studied there with the noted violin pedagogue Abram Yampolsky. In 1934, Jascha Heifetz played concerts in Moscow. "I attended every one," Kogan later said, "and can remember until now every note he played. He was the ideal artist for me." When Kogan was 12, Jacques Thibaud was in Moscow and heard him play. The French virtuoso predicted a great future for Kogan. Kogan studied at the Central Music School in Moscow (1934--43), then at the Moscow Conservatory (1943--48), where he studied as a postgraduate (1948--51).

This is a groundbreaking audio interview conducted in the middle of the night after I received an urgent phone call from Anthony Sanchez, author of the book on Dulce and the Greys called UFO Highway. This recording is unedited except for a section per his request where a reference is made to a person who could be put in danger as a result of any mention of his involvement. Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev was leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics from 1964, till his death on November 10th, 1982. He lead the USSR through its most stable and prosperious time. Under his leadership the Soviet Union reached its highest levels of international prestige, influence, standard of living for the Soviet citizen, law & order, as well as military might. However his leadership was also marked with increased Communist Party corruption, and economic stagnation. When he died he left the Soviet Union in a grave state of long ignored economic stagnation, the reform of which would be left to his successors. Through his ups and downs, Brezhnev is remembered very fondly by older Russians. His funeral was held on November 15th, 1982.

2009 Leonid Meteor shower time-lapse (11/16-11/17). Streaks which can be seen early in the evening are from airplanes. Meteors are visible later in the evening after Leo begins to rise, which is about half-way through the video. If you watch carefully in the lower right corner towards the end of the movie, a very bright Leonid can be seen which leaves a smoke trail. An image gallery with close ups of the photos contained in this video can be reviewed here: picasaweb.google.com In this Columbia Masterworks recording released in 1970, the American concert pianist and composer Leonid Hambro (1920 - 2006) performs his composition, "Happy Birthday Dear Ludwig," a set of piano variations in the style of Beethoven on the tune "Happy Birthday." Woven into the variations are Beethoven's Bagatelle, Op. 119, the Minuet in G, the Pathetique and Moonlight Sonatas, Fur Elise and the theme of the first movement of Symphony No. 5. I created this music video from the LP, "Happy Birthday Ludwig," serial number MS 7406, shown above. The video opens with images from the LP jacket. This LP was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's birth (1770). It is a compilation of recordings of Beethoven's works, featuring artists such as Hambro, Rudolf Serkin, Glenn Gould, Philippe Entremont, Leonard Bernstein and Eugene Ormandy, issued previously on the Columbia label. So thatthere is no question in the mind of the listener, I rely principally on images of the LP and LP jacket in order to document the authenticity of historically important recordings such as these. ***Thanks Cuz, Monica Zambrano Cohen, for the GREAT SHARE!!!*** Leonid Afremov (born 1955) is a Belarusian painter. His paintings are often vividly-coloured landscapes, cityscapes and figures, and are typically painted using a palette knife and oil paint. Afremov graduated from Vitebsk Art School, which was founded by Marc Chagall in 1921 and has had many notable patrons including Kazimir Malevich and Wassily Kandinsky. After discovering that only communist propaganda posters would sell in the Soviet Union, Afremov moved to Israel in 1990. Within two weeks, he had found a job in an advertising agency painting billboards, but on the eve of an exhibition, his studio was broken into and vandalised. After having his art gallery vandalized by orthodox Jews, Leonid moved to the United States. Dr. Ksanfomaliti is a senior researcher and a head of the Laboratory on Photometry and Thermal Radiometry at the Space Research Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, and a contributor to Venera missions in 1970-80s. Dr. Ksanfomaliti analyzes a few series of images taken by two cameras (V-13-1 and V-13-2) of the Venera-13 in attempt to identify objects or phenomena associated with their appearance, disappearance or change of their forms. "A few relatively large objects were found with size ranging from a decimeter to half meter and with unusual morphology. The objects were observed on some images, but were absent on others, or altered their shape," the researcher writes in the paper. "Among the relatively large disappearing or changing elements, first of all, there is a 'disk'. The object has a regular shape and refers to the planet's surface as no parts of the lander similar in shape were detached. 'Disk' is cut by the upper boundary of the image, only its lower half part is seen. It is about 0.34 m in diameter."
