D'Amour...Miserere - Trovatore Contest - Leontyne Price

This is aHUGE thank you present for everyone that has supported my channel! Many people consider this to be one of the quintessential Verdi aria's with a very tricky vocal line. This contest represents a first, I have included selections that I normally would have omitted. I am interested in seeing how this works out. La Forza del Destino "La vergine" - Leontyne Price

This was suggested as an idea for a contest. I didn't feel as though I had enough videos for a contest. But I was immediately taken with the idea of this selection, "La vergine" from La Forza. This has always been one of my favorite moments in the opera, such a beautiful piece of music. I hope everyone enjoys: Barbara Frittoli - 2008 Leontyne Price - 1984 Anna Tomowa-Sintow - 1981 Maria Chiara - 1990 Nina Stemme - 2008 Sharon Sweet - 1996 Ghena Dimitrova - 1991 Georgina Lukacs - 1999 Michele Crider - 1996 Giovanna Casolla - 1992 Montserrat Caballé - 1978 Renata Tebaldi - 1958

Leontyne Price: 'Care Selve' in a 1965 recital

Price interprets 'Care Selve' from Handel's opera "Atalanta". This aria is the very first aria she sings at the recital and her voice is literally perfect. This debut recital was Feb. 28, 1965 at Carnegie Hall. If you don't appreciate the quality of her voice in this recording then you really should learn more about opera...

Aida Contest - O Patria Mia - Leontyne Price

Ihope everyone enjoys these postings. I have tried to put together a small sampling of videos that represent the best of Verdi and the best of the soprano voice. As with any Verdi music the aria is difficult in its own way. Aida is a part that has many facets, beautiful and devious as they are. 1-5 for Singing/Characterization: Galina Kalinina - 1989 Leyla Gencer - 1963 Sharon Sweet - 1990 Birgit Nilsson - 1964 Orianna Santunione - 1973 Leona Mitchell - 1995 Maria Guleghina - 1998 Aprile Millo - 1992 Daniela Dessi - 2000 Galina Gorchakova - 1995 Herva Nelli - 1949 Gilda Cruz-Romo - 1977 (sorry for the poor audio) Violeta Urmana - 2006 Mirella Freni - 1987 Renata Tebaldi - 1959 Gabriella Tucci - 1961 Leontyne Price - 1985
