This was part of a science fair project. As the voltage is increased in the coil, the magnetic flux of the coil also increases. This increase in flux coupled with sixty hertz AC creates alternating eddy currents in the conductive plate below. Every time that the current switches directions or fluctuates, the eddy currents are refreshed. Due to Lenz's Law, the magnetic flux produced by these eddy currents will always oppose the magnetic flux of the coil, causing it to levitate.

For a school project in the Netherlands I made an introduction movie for my presentation which I held together with one other student. Our project was about finding out how a Maglev train works and how we can build our own Maglev. At the moment of creation, the Dutch government was researching whether the "Zuiderzeelijn", a connection between the north of the Netherlands (Groningen) and the more populated west of the Netherlands (Amsterdam, etc) was feasible. The music is from an unpublished LoTR theme, named "Requiem for a dream" and was composed by Howard Shore. The theme was originally used for a trailer for a movie for the Hobbit, though several TV-channels also used the theme.
