This was in a small pile of DVDs I was given and halfway through it, he does this tour thing where you get to see his house in 1978. I'd read that this guy had some far-out design, but this was taking kitsch to a whole new level. I like the Rolls Royce halfway through; it's the exact same model I hired as my wedding car 2 years ago - though it would have been brand new in that scene. The style and fashion in that house is so terribly gawdy but yet Veronika & I couldn't stop watching it. This is like "Pimp My Crib 1978 Stylz".

"Liberace might not been the first showman to grace the Las Vegas stage, but he was definitely the most extravagant. A trip to the Liberace Museum is in order for those who want to see evidence of his flamboyance firsthand. Opened to the public in 1979 by the man who knew more about decadence than Marie Antoinette, Liberaces former home is a fantastic candy store of luxury and absurdity. Known for his stage antics, irreverent classical piano pieces, slick pompadour and Mozart-meets-Elvis attire, Liberace was both a beloved and ridiculed performer whose legend has become practically synonymous with Sin City. A fun and indulgent Las Vegas attraction, the museum is divided into two sections, one of which contains the pianists famous collection of highly decorated pianos. Among the collection are his favorite, a mirror-plated 9-foot concert grand, and a piano that belonged to American composer George Gershwin. Also housed in the first section are Liberaces signature custom-built cars, which he would drive on stage as part of his grand entrance. Theres even a mirror-plated Rolls Royce to match his favorite piano. The second section of the Liberace Museum is home to an array of Liberaces more bizarre stage gear, including a gigantic red velvet Christmas suit and a 200-pound Neptune costume, among other fascinating ruffles, sequins, feathers and flared legs. Theres also a re-creation of Liberaces Palm Springs bedroom and a showcase of his numerous awards. For all of his ...

Bruce Meyers (bruncem@ozemail.com.au) joined Stedfast Enterprises Limited in 1965 to raise hard to get funds for the non denominational Christian Mission Society, Open Air Campaigners, founded in Sydney in 1892. Stedfast took the Australian agency for Thomas Electronic organs in 1965 and traded in a small but growing business until approx 1973. An annual budget of a minimal $7000 pr annum, was violently affected when the companys friendly advertising agent , Tom Glynn, advised that Liberace was doing a concert tour in Australia and maybe could a Thomas organ commercial in Australia. He was contracted to opposition Baldwin Organs for virtually every country, but not Australia. Bruce agreed but was staggered to find Liberaces fee would be $25000 US dlrs. He saw the potential and agreed but obstacles occurred. The Australian Musicians Union refused Liberace Permission to work in Australia, other than the concert terms of his visa. After much negotiation, we decided to make the commercial in USA. In order to do this we: 1.Had a script written by an Australian Scriptwriter. 2.Found an Australian soundman willing to travel to USA for the commercial 3.Found an Australian Cameraman, travelling in USA, to film the commercial. 4.Found a ten year old schoolgirl in Sydney, Justine Wilson, and Bruce taught her to play the first four bars of When the saints Go Marching In using the exclusive Thomas ColorGlo System. 5.Arranged for Justines Grandmother to be available as chaperone. 6 ...

Here is Liberace performing Tiger Rag from his 1969 Television Series. The 3 DVD set will be released on September 18th. Titled Liberace Ultimate Entertainer.

thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com Wladziu Valentino Liberace (May 16, 1919 -- February 4, 1987), best known simply as Liberace, was a famous American pianist and vocalist. In a career that spanned four decades of concerts, recordings, motion pictures, television and endorsements, Liberace became world-renown. During the 1950s--1970s he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world and embraced a lifestyle of flamboyant excess both on and off the stage. Unlike Jack Benny, Liberace mostly bypassed radio before trying a television career, thinking radio unsuitable given his act's dependency on the visual. Despite his enthusiasm about the possibilities of television, Liberace was disappointed after his early guest appearances on CBS's The Kate Smith Show, starring Kate Smith, and Cavalcade of Stars, with Jackie Gleason. Liberace was particularly displeased with the frenetic camera work and his short appearance time. He soon wanted his own show where he could control his presentation as he did with his club shows. His first show on local television in Los Angeles was a smash hit, earning the highest ratings of any local show, which he parlayed into a sold out appearance at the Hollywood Bowl. That led to a summer replacement program for Dinah Shore. The fifteen-minute network television program, The Liberace Show, began on July 1, 1952, but did not lead to a regular network series. Instead producer Duke Goldstone mounted a filmed version of Liberace's local show performed ...

A Horrible Interpretation of Erroll Garner's Misty Played by Liberace. Why do I think it's an awful rendition? Because of the way it's hammered out with pretentiously, overly dramatic chords. (But that was Lee.) It has no sense of romance and it's not "dreamy" sounding like it should be in this musician's opinion. It doesn't flow smoothly. It fails to lure the listener into wistful enchantment. I think Roger Williams, Beegie Adair, and Fabrizio Caligaris (all posted here) do a much better job with this piece than much loved best piano player who ever lived. Nevertheless I posted it because afterall it is Misty, and it is Liberace.
