Born on 1st July 1945, Lindell Hill was a white singer, but sounding black. Lindell did a great single on Arch Records, a small record label located in North Saint Louis. The studio stood in a basement and was owned by Nick Charles, a Memphis white disc jockey, a friend of Jim Stewart, who recorded for Stax in the early years. As told by his daughter Kelly, they did the basic rhythm tracks in St Louis with the voice & drums and then sent them down to Memphis with Steve Cropper to put the background vocals and horns in. The song "Used To Be Love" was redone with Wilson Pickett and Wilson named it "Mini Skirt Mini". He also did a 45 on Hi under the name of Lyndon: Hi 2162, "The Very First Time"/"I Love My Baby" and an other one on the Bright Star label. He is still well and alive and living in Dittmer, Missouri.
