Two of Mapogo, Mr T and Bent spine had a fight that left (Bent spine) with wounded front paw. The boys ignored the fact that the females have young cubs and cannot mate, they each got a lioness and kept them hostage, they wouldn't let the girls near the carcass because there was another male (Makhulu) feeding. Mr T made one mistake and........ You strike a Woman, you strike a Rock (Originating from a traditional Zulu saying, women of various races sang this during the years of anti-pass demonstrations) Now the Ximhungwe lionesses are saying enough is enough to Mr T. Now you have touched the lioness you have dislodged the boulder you will be crushed.

The Tsalala Lionesses cross the Sand River to meet their cubs at Londolozi Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park. The two lionesses are now looking after 8 cubs in total, four belonging to each female. The older cubs are around 7 months whilst the younger cubs are around 4 months old.

Lion sightings at the Gowrie Dam PM of the 19th and early AM of the 20th. Tsalala pride come first but are missing one female. Hours later she is heard contact calling for a very long time and comes looking for her pride but she heads the wrong way. :( A hyena or leopard appears on the dam wall at the end. Indomitable Lionesses qualify for London Olympic Games 26/10/2011 The female national football team has qualified for the London Olympic Games. The team obtained its qualification on Saturday, 22nd October 2011 in Yaounde after prevailing over the Super Falcons of Nigeria. The crucial encounter played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium was a must-win game for the Lionesses that had registered a defeat(2-1) during the first leg match that was played on 27th August in Abuja in Nigeria. During Saturday's return leg, at the end of regular play time, Cameroon had equalised on a 2-1 aggregate; the first goal was scored by Francine Zouga and the scored from Christine Manie Patience through a penalty. Due to the 2-1 equaliser, penalty shootouts very necessary. The palpitating exercise ended with a 4-3 victory for Cameroon. Head coach, Enow Ngachu after the victory, saluted the performance of the girls and hoped that the Lionesses would keep Cameroon's flying in London during the Olympic Games. It is worth indicating that the team is taking part in the Olympic Games for the first time. The victory yet another for the girls who won the Gold medal during the Africa Games in Maputo in September 2011.

On a safari in Jan 2011, I was lucky enough to capture this scene. A lioness hunts a baby zebra to feed her cubs. Watch the video to see how she catches it. This was a rare opportunity to see a hunt, and from so close. Our guide said he sees this sort of thing once in 5 years, and he tours every day.

Witness to this tragedy, a pride of hungry and thirsty lionesses and their cubs overlook the last pockets of water. Although it is dangerous for the young cubs to travel, the females have no choice but to follow the herds of herbivores in their migration. Days go by as the leaden sun scorches the savanna and the winds blow away the few hopes of rain. Will the lionesses and the other animals find water in time to save themselves?
