Llan de Cubel are a celtic folk band from Asturias (Spain) which specializes in playing Asturian folk music. Formed in 1984, the seven member group has been part of an overall revival and revitalization of Asturian traditional music. The band is a frequent participant in Celtic music festivals, both inside and outside of Asturias, such as the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. True to their effort to play authentic Asturian music, Llan de Cubel play authentic Asturian instruments, such as pipes, bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and guitars, and the band has been known to conduct research into the music of that region.

I was inspired to write 'WE'LL PLANT THE TREES' by an old friend of mine, Norman Watson, the 'tree man' of Flint Norh Wales. I would also like to dedicate it to the memory of the late kathleen Jannerway of MCL (The Movement For Compassionate Living) who wrote the book: 'ABUNDANCE LIVING IN THE COMING AGE OF THE TREE'. Vintage Trains ran a charter from Tysley to Llandudno to coincide with the latters Victorian Festival; steam hauled by 4965 Rood Ashton Hall and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe. Under normal circumstances one loco could have hauled the special, but I assume that 2 were needed for stock shunting at Llandudno. Despite the long gap between arrival and departure I decided to stay out for the return, but sadly things didn't go quite to plan. Based on the outline times available, the locos were due to have a 30min wait at Llandudno Junction, and I therefore decided to film at Deganwy and then head for Abergele. Unfortunately, traffic was slow back to the A55 and just as I arrived at Abergele station, the locos stormed thru with a cracking exhaust from the Hall. Ah well, that's what happens when you try to do too much; but it was still a great day out on the North Wales coast. (ps sound could be better, but it was a bit windy -- hopefully this will improve when my latest purchase turns up from India - wind blimp)
