Triple-T LoneStar Goes Swamp Logging
Everyone said it was too pretty to do any "real" work. Well the LoneStar proved that it is not a "Highway Queen" when Triple-T took the opportunity to do a two day demo with Goodson All Terrain Logging better known from their show on Discovery Channel as "Swamp Loggers". The LoneStar was driven by Joy "Baby Doll" Craft while Cody Jones from Triple-T was riding along with Joy for both days. During the demo the LoneStar went to different logging decks and to the paper mill in Reigelwood, NC. The LoneStar never broke a sweat and surprised everyone on the road including the crew from Goodson. Ford continue testing their new F-150 with the twin turbo V6 EcoBoost engine. After doing the equivalent of 150000 miles on a dyno, the engine is shipped to Kansas City where it's put into a 4x4 F-150 on the production line, and then driven to Oregon to act as a skidder for a day.

Timber harvest: logging
Loggers are clearing about 10 Ac. from the middle of my property. There is about a 50:50 mix of logs to pulpwood. I do not have any video of the feller buncher actually cutting a tree, but I wanted to show what the view is like from the inside. If you think the video is difficult to see clearly, that is what the view is actually like, obscured. I had very dense vegetation on the west line, so I just flagged along a naturally occuring path that is about 40 to 50 ft inside my property. The owner of the equipment asked me if I wanted to take "that machine" (pointing to feller buncher) and ride the property line (to punch down the vegetation and reflag). I said, hmmmm, OK (translation: Hell YESSS!!. His operating instructions: "that pedal is forward, and that pedal is reverse, this thingy raises the cutterhead, and don't touch that button" (saw). Nice.

An attempt to move three firewood logs, each beech that were 8 to 12 inches in diameter and 20 ft long. The third log was not adequately chained and dropped from the arch as the skidding began. The Arctic Cat 700 cc diesel ATV easily handled the skid using the custom made arch.
