lubricating ford brake pad sliders

How to lubricate brake pad sliders on 1994-1996 ford trucks. (1994 Bronco shown) this style is actually less common but i prefer it because the slide surfaces for the caliper are protected from the elements by rubber boots.its best to use brake grease. they have to be lubricated occasionally cause they build up dirt and grime and the sliders wont fuction properly. its needed more more often on vehicles used off road. lube brake pad ford truck bronco f150 f250 pad pads slide slider grease grease gooey metal caliper click rub bump glaze lube lubricate lubrication greasing

Front Disc Brakes and How to Replace Them

Well here you are after many requests for this one it's finally here. I shot this last spring but I've been saving it for you as a special present. In this episode we go over the principals of operation and replacement of a basic front disc brake set up. It all starts with a shaking steering wheel and ends with new brakes. I think this is a pretty good video overall and gives the important information you would need to perform this task yourself. A couple of notes. I didn't have time to go over how to isolate a brake pulsation between front or rear in this video. Also, I had a very easy time of getting these rotors off, I can assure you that this is not often the case, I could probably do a video just on removing difficult rotors alone. I may do a video on that in the future as I collect some different scenarios for you. As always visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com ericthecarguy.com The Bolg ericthecarguy.blogspot.com And you can always leave your questions and comments for me to answer here as a video or text response, I'm here for you after all.Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information. Visit me at www.ericthecarguy.com During the used car inspection that I did on my Subaru I found evidence that the rear calipers weren't doing their job so I decided to make this video of how I handled the situation. It's been about a month since I shot this video and even though I didn't machine the rotors they are actually much better than they were, I don't hear any noise and the car stops fine so you may also be able to get away without machining the rotors.Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information. Charade GTti Front brake caliper reconditioned, super slick free sliders

This shows how free the brake caliper sliders should be. The slider pin shoudl be smooth and polished, and inside the rubber boot there should be a small amount of lubricant. Moves very easily. Avoid using Copper grease. You may think its a good idea, but after a few weeks the copper grease dries out and hardens and causes seizing again. I have tried many greases and lubricants on the sliders, some last longer than others. Silicone brake grease is recommended.

Toyota 4x4 brake modification makes broken Birfield access much quicker! Quick release caliper.

Toyota for some reason made the mount for the brake caliper hardline a trapped unit. Because of the way it was designed you have to disconnect the brake line if you want to remove the caliper from the steering knuckle, or if you want to remove the knuckle from the axle. Even under shop conditions I hate bleeding brakes, so imagine how much fun it is if you would have to open the brake lines out on the trail (like when you're fixing a blown Birfield joint.) Spilling brake fluid on the ground out in the woods is not cool either. This mod allows you to remove the caliper while the brake hard line and flexible line are still attached. If you don't have to open the system, you don't have to bleed after you put it back together. This mod alos comes in super handy in the shop. As you can eliminate the brake bleeding step in any job that requires that you remove the caliper (Wheel bearing adjustment, rotor replacement, steering knuckle removal, etc.) If you don't have to bleed the brakes you just saved yourself a bunch of time. If you've had to disconnect the brake hard line at the caliper, his trick also makes getting that tiny brake hard line fitting that mounts under the bracket started into the soft line fitting threads a breeze. This is the first mod that I do to any Solid Front Axle (SFA) Toyota that wanders into my life. It's such an easy mod I'm just dumbfounded that Toyota didn't make the brackets like this from the get-go. Maybe it was a planned move to increase the ...

Superduty 1999.5-2004+ 4x4 front brake job

Replacing front brake Components on a 2001 F250 4x4 crewcab 7.3L powerstroke. How-to video. It's a bit long but shows you the entire process except for pressure bleeding the system. I'm sure there are tons of brake bleeding videos on youtube. Basically have an assistant pump the pedal and hold it down - then open the bleeder slightly until pedal drops (1 second). Close bleeder. Have assistant pump again. Bleed again. Do it at least 4-5 times at each wheel starting with the furthest away from the master cylinder. Should bleed rear brakes too but don't break the bleeders off!! Or you'll be replacing rear calipers too. Top off the master cylinder after bleeding each wheel. Clean brake fluid from the calipers with brakekleen or equivalent. Have assistant hold down the brake pedal with firm pressure. Observe where the brake line bolts to the calipers for any leaks while holding pedal down. Check master cylinder after first short drive and check again for leaks.

Diesel1Dee - 2002 dakota to 2003 durango brake swap Part 2.wmv

This is a 2002 dakota 4x4 brake swap to a 2003 durango 4x4 brake setup (front only) I have had issues with my front rotors going bad and warping over and over since i got the truck. i had replaced brake components and rebuilt the calipers and replaced calipers and flex lines as well. nothing would stop the issues i was having. So i looked up some info on www.dakota-durango.com. Quite a few members had done this brake change that had the issues i was having and had great results. aparently these brake were also used by dodge on the ram models as well. so they had alot more resistance to heat then the 2002 ones. Things you will need: - 2003 durango 4x4 steering knuckles - 2003 durango 4x4 calipers, caliper brackets, pads, rotors - bracket bolts. - new banjo bolts for the calipers since the 2002 ones don't fit - cotter pins of various sizes for the upper and lower ball joint and spindle nut - any other lube you want to use for the calipers. (caliper lube) Things to note: - For this swap you will need to have 16 inch rims or higher. - you will need to bleed the brake system after. - Lube the slide pins since the grease they put in there from factory isn't very much. it would do the job but i just like the piece of mind that its fully lubed. Torque specs i used: ( verified from factory service manual and haynes manual) Hub spindle to knuckle bolts: 123ft/lbs Hub spindle bolt: 180ft/lbs Tie rods: 60 ft/lbs Ball joint nut ( upper) 60 ft/lbs ( lower) 135 ft/lbs Calliper torque: 2 ...
