A day after one of the biggest protests ever seen in Malaysia's capital, police were still stationed around Independence square. A court order barring public entry was breached on Saturday when a group of Bersih protesters defied the public promise to respect police lines, and tried to rush into the square. But, more than two hours later several protesters were beat, kicked or slapped by police officers. Passengers arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Saturday, 14 January 2012 were greeted with a flash mob as they made their way out of the Arrival Hall on Level 3. Much to the delight of unsuspecting onlookers, plus the odd stare in disbelief, visitors at KLIA witnessed some 100 singers and dancers break into spontaneous entertainment as part of Malaysia Airlines' special flash mob event held to welcome the New Year with a bang. Themed 'Missing You', the flash mob at the Arrival Hall lasting 10 minutes featured a fun medley of eight popular hit songs in various languages. The event kick-started with Malaysia Airlines' theme song "We fly" followed by Janet Jackson's racy track 'Miss You Much' to set the tone for the flash mob in which a young man with a guitar in hand walked up to his girlfriend and suddenly broke into a song and dance. This was immediately followed in another corner of the Hall by a supposedly heart-broken young man belting out Rahim Maarof's hit 'Istana Menanti' backed by a group singing acapella echoing his emotion. Soon after, the melodious sounds of popular Hindi tune 'Aankhein Khuli' from the movie Mohabbatein filled the air. 'My Boyfriend's Back' showcased a group of guys returning from holiday only to be greeted by an enthusiastic group of girlfriends. KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — A police car crashed trying to flee angry protestors but then crashed into at least two people. Two police patrol cars had stopped at the traffic lights on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman near Pertama Complex. A male protestor then leapt on the bonnet of one car while surrounding protestors threw stones and water bottles at the vehicle, causing the windscreen to shatter. When the lights turned green, the driver accelerated but skidded out on control and crashed on the sidewalk outside Sogo shopping complex and hit at least two people, injuring them. The angry crowd then surrounded the policemen but volunteers from PKR's Jingga 13 formed a human shield around the officers, saying "don't blame them, it's not their fault."

The first dish in the video is known as Nasi Campur, a truly delightful Malaysian street food that consists of a giant plate of rice accompanied by an assortment of various side dishes. I chose fish curry, chili tofu and a bunch of other delicious vegetables and garnished. Next I stopped at a famous place near Little India in Kuala Lumpur to eat an Ikan Bakar grilled fish. It was grilled in some kind of chili sauce and served with a limey chili sauce that was absolutely spectacular. When it began to rain, I decided to drink a cup of milk tea teh tarik, one of the most famous beverages in Malaysia. The next meal was at Hameed's a restaurant specializing in Indian style Malaysian street food known as Nasi Kandar. Along with a plate of rice covered in curries, I aslo ordered a plate of biryani, and a side of tandoori chicken and plan naan. I couldn't leave Kuala Lumpur without eating the absolute mos comforting Malaysian street food: Nasi Lemak. After searching around, I finally found it at an outdoors restaurant. A Malaysian group representing villagers and civil groups will file a legal challenge to the government's decision to approve a massive rare earths plant by Lynas, the Australian mining company . The Atomic Energy Licensing Board announced late on Wednesday it would grant Lynas a license to operate the first rare earths plant outside China in years, despite public protests over fears of radioactive pollution. It said Lynas must submit plans for a permanent disposal facility within 10 months and make a $50mn financial guarantee. Malaysia hopes the Lynas plant will spur growth. But the project has been the subject of heated protests over health and environmental risks posed by potential leaks of radioactive waste.
