This is my tribute video to bid farewell to Malta's Yellow Buses Last day of operation on Malta's roads - 2nd July 2011 Love them or hate them - Thank you for your service These are Malta's Yellow and Orange Buses, Malta's traditional vintage buses that not only uphold Malta's identity but were part of our culture and character. Unfortunately many now have been sent to the junk yard to be scrapped. Many tourists fell in love with our buses since the buses themselves were unique with engines and bodies dating back decades, often built by the drivers themselves, no where in Europe would one see such buses still being used as a means of public transport in the modern 21st century. With hand painted signs, messages and nicknames of the bus drivers themselves, religous stickers, statues and cards, flags, banners and slogans and shiny badges, the photos above display some of the most unique features of Malta's iconic buses that have served the public for decades Many maltese took them for granted, but now that we have lost them we have started to appreciate them more and become nostalgic . The photos speak for themselves and the identity they upholded Now Malta has entered the 21st century and came in line with the rest of the world with a new modern bus service managed by Arriva ...while we wish the new company all the best, our maltese buses are now a thing of the past inscripted in our transport history. We will never forget Malta's old yellow buses Thanks for watching and ...
