Beautiful and stylish b&w video for Marcela Detroit 1994 single "I Believe" from her album "Jewel". Directors of this video are Andy Delaney and Monty Whitebloom (Big TV!) who also have made videos for "The Beloved" (Sweet Harmony) and KT Tunstall. In a TV interview about this clip Marcy says that she would like to model her performance after 1928 silent film "La passion de Jeanne d'Arc" which has Maria Falconetti in the leading role.

Marcella Sembrich, Soprano ( 1858-1935) Vincenzo Bellini - I Puritani Qui la voce sua soave (Recorded 1907) My personal opinion: "Sembrich never pushed her voice; there´sa melodious sound in it, so pure, so elemental, it stands to reason that you may go into rapture. Now the little woman stands in front of us, diamond-sparkling, she wears her wealth around the neck. But after deducting all brightness, only judging her voice - there is nowhere around such a melodious sound from heaven!" Contemporary critic words about polish born Prakseda Marcelina Kochanska aka Marcella Sembrich, one of the three great "fin de siècle"-primadonnas. Sembrich was a musical child genius, a wunderkind, played almost perfect violin and piano. In a 1884 Met spring performance, the young Sembrich brought down the house by singing and playing both instruments and accompanying herself. At last she sang "Ah, non giunge" and triumph was hers. In the fall of 1883 Sembrich had given her Met debut as Lucia (It was the Opera´s house first season at all). It was no less a figure than Franz Liszt, who adviced her to became a singer. Her singing teacher was the famous Battista Lamperti, her debut followed when Sembrich was a young girl at age 19, in Athen she sang Elvira in "Puritani".
