Another great moment in my life, getting the chance to chat with my biggest bass inspiration Larry Graham. The interview took place after the GCS concert july 4 at the 'Jazz By The Sea' venue during Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2011. Thank you Larry Graham, Tina Graham and the band Larry speaks of one of his biggest influences on guitar (which he started out with) Clarence Gatemouth Brown, where he learned the song 'Okie Dokie Stomp' note for note. You can enter the contest in 2 ways. If you're coming to Musikmesse Frankfurt (21.-24. March 2012), we will shoot your video @ the Sandberg booth (every day from 3pm to 6pm). Just come by and bring your talent, everything else (recording, editing, etc) will be done by Gregor Fris. If you can't make it to the Messe, you can record your own video and send it to us via email to contest@sandberg-guitars.de (please use wetransfer.com or something similar). It's an INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION - so you can participate - NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE FROM! You can edit your video by yourself or just send the clips and let Gregor do it. The video should have a maximum length of 2-3 minutes! The deadline for "email-videos" is March the 30th! All videos will be released at the 1st of April on the official Sandberg Guitars YouTube channel (www.youtube.com The winner will be the one who gets the most THUMBS UP for his video on YOUTUBE. We'll count the thumps up on April the 15th at 8pm middle-european time. PLEASE play YOUR OWN music, NO COVERS! Please use only fair methods to "get" thumbs up. A dream come true, playing Larry Grahams bass on stage with the Master himself:-) Venue is "Jazz by the Sea" at Copenhagen Jazz festival 2011 I wont wash my thumb for a long time:-D A thin guy with a white bass hides behind a fat guy in the start of the video - I guess he is shy;-) The sound is unfortunately very shitty, but you can hopefully get an idea of the vibe. My interpretation inspired by Marlowe's very groovy open D groove ... :) It's a bit rough but I can't be jammin' on this excellent riff all day, or can I?? This is the AM pentatnoic Excercise: " Am pentatonic exercise using all 5 positions of the minor pentatonic scale, but in 4 note groupings and only using the top 2 strings (G and D).The exercise is played 4 times, 2 x starting on the root/octave, 1 x on the minor third and 1 x on the root again. Can of course be played over C major too - after all the Am pentatonic scale share exeactly the same notes as the C major pentatonic scale"
