Sometimes the underlying sonic textures are so transparent they might simply be environmental recordings, a thickening of emptiness. The balance between melody and ambient space is expertly worked so that you never quite feel that you are listening to 'tunes' as such, yet the gradual, spacious unfolding of these melancholy arrangements has you captivated - pulled along like a fallen leaf on a stream. Biographie Elle commence à se produire très jeune à Lyon, à seize ans, avant de monter à Paris où elle vit de dessins à la craie, sur le trottoir. Une présentatrice de télévision la prend sous son aile, elle chante au Bœuf sur le toit et dans plusieurs autres cabarets. On la compare à Barbara. Jean Cocteau la repère et fait son portrait. Elle enregistre des chansons de Michel Breuzard, puis, collaborant avec des compositeurs comme Charles Dumont, Gérard Bourgeois, Jacques Debronckart, Georges Chelon, elle écrit dans les années 1960 ses textes les plus connus : Mathias, Grenoble, Elle t'attend, On n'a pas le droit, Ostende.
