"Jet" is a song by Paul McCartney & Wings from their album Band on the Run. The song peaked at number 7 in both the British and American charts on 30 March 1974. Along with "Helen Wheels" and "Junior's Farm", it is another McCartney song where his primary inspiration for composing the song arose in daily life. Whereas most of the Band on the Run album was recorded in Lagos, Nigeria, "Jet" was recorded entirely at EMI Studios in London after the group's return (according to engineer Geoff Emerick in his book 'Here There and Everywhere.') When first released, the single's B-side was "Mamunia", another track from Band on the Run. However, it was soon replaced with "Let Me Roll It". "Jet" can also be found on both Wings Greatest (1978) and All the Best! (1987). Reviewers have reported that the subject of the song is McCartney's Labrador Retriever dog named "Jet". However, in a 2010 interview on the UK television channel ITV1 for the program Wings: Band on the Run (to promote the November 2010 CD/DVD re-release of the album) McCartney explained that Jet was the name of a pony he had owned, although many of the lyrics bore little relation to the subject. Prominent music critic Dave Marsh named the song number 793 in his list of the 1001 greatest singles ever made. He referred to it as a "grand pop confection" that represented the only time McCartney approached the "drive and density" of his tenure with the Beatles. The song was named after Paul and Linda McCartney's Land Rover, which they nicknamed "Hell on Wheels". The song was released as a single prior to Band on the Run and therefore was not included on the original British release of the album. However, it was included on the original American release and also the 25th anniversary version. The song was also included on Wingspan. The song peaked at number 10 in the United States on 12 January 1974 and at number 12 on the United Kingdom charts.

Paul pulled up in his car and opened the door for his bride and 7-year-old-daughter Beatrice, who rushed inside. Meanwhile, the couple, who have been together since 2007 and engaged since May, posed for pictures before making their way up the steps. The entire event was quite the family affair. In addition to Beatrice serving as flower girl, Paul's brother served as best man, and Paul's daughter Stella McCartney designed the bride's custom dress and the groom's custom suit. After the ceremony, guests showered the newlyweds with rose petals. Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and the bride's second cousin Barbara Walters were among the 30 friends and family members who got to see the exchanging of the vows. Then, even more attendees — including Kate Moss — joined the group for a celebratory reception, which took place at Paul's home. According to reports, Paul broke out his guitar to sing a ballad he wrote for his new wife, and he was supposedly brought to tears by it. The wedding date and venue both have meaning for Mr. McCartney. Sunday would have been John Lennon's 71st birthday and the location is the same place he married his first wife, Linda, back in 1969.
