The Singularity - Terence McKenna

Terence McKenna and Gregory Stock speak about the epic transition we face in the very near future called the Singularity. This shift will be the result of the inevitable culmination of infinite technological progress and the emergence of completely new states of connectedness. Once the Singularity happens, infinite growth is reached. Within a very short amount of time (as a result of this exponential growth), we will take our first steps towards a new age as an entirely new entity. We will then go on to saturate the entire physical universe with our newly born super-intelligence, or we will gain the ability to actually leave the 3-Dimensional universe and move to higher (or simply other) states of being. ***Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Terence Mckenna - Schizophrenic or Shamanic?

Terence Mckenna giving his view on how we define the mentally ill because we haven't got any place in our society to put these strange perceptions of reality that some people experience and how we should not fear these states but be confident and turn them into some sort of planetary worldview. Terence McKenna: Culture is not your friend

www.dedroidify.com http www.dedroidify.com Culture is not your friend, it's an impediment to understanding what's going on. That's why to my mind the word cult and the word culture have a direct relationship to each other. Culture is a cult and if you feel revulsion at the thought of somebody offering to the great carrot, just notice that your own culture is an extremely repressive cult that leads to all kinds of humiliation and degradation, and automatic and unquestioned and unthinking behaviour. I mean the American family is what keeps American psychotherapy alive and well. This is a cauldron for the production of neurosis. Part of what psychedelics do, is they decondition you from cultural values. This is what makes it such a political hot potato, since all culture is a kind of congame, the most dangerous candy you can hand out is candy that makes people start questioning the rules of the game. Terence mckenna - How To Take Psychedelics Pt.1

This is the first of several videos I made using Terence mcKenna's wise words on how he goes about the task of taking psychedelic compounds, mainly psilocybin. I believe Terence to be a fairly good authority on such things. It's a good model to use, but not for the faint hearted as the dose and situation is for optimum humanity dissolution. Hope you all enjoy, as this is my first video. It's far from perfect, but I'm new at this so cut me some slack.

11 September 1993 (Terence McKenna) [FULL]

alchemicalarchives.blogspot.com I'll let Terence give you the name of this talk. 11 September 1993 In this lecture, Terence McKenna talks about the tragic situation we humans have placed ourselves in, and ways in which the boundry dissolution effects of psychedelic medicines can possibly save our species from what appears to be a certain extinction. . . . "What the psychedelic experience does, really, is it stretches the envelope of the imaginable." "It seems to me that culture, at least this culture, is a shabby lie." "We have the tools that would allow us to sculpt paradise, but we have the reflexes and value systems of anthropoid apes of some sort. . . . You don't get serial killers in the chipmunk population." "We live at the end of a thousand year binge on the philosophical position known as materialism, in its many guises. And the basic message of materialism is that world is what it appears to be, a thing composed of matter, and pretty much confined to its surface." "We're in, essentially, a tragic situation. A tragic situation is a catastrophe when you know it." For approximately 500 years [sciences] argument for its pre-eminence was the beautiful toys that it could create: aircraft, railroads, global economies, television, spacecraft. But that is a fool's argument for truth! I mean, that's after all how a medicine show operates, you know: the juggler is so good, the medicine must be even better! This is not an entirely rational way to proceed. Images: Oculus ...

Terence McKenna - Riding Range with Marshall McLuhan

Herbert Marshall McLuhan (July 21, 1911—December 31, 1980) was a Canadian futurist, academic and one of the founders of modern media studies. He was born to Elsie and Herbert McLuhan in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and raised in a Baptist Scottish-Irish family. He later converted to Roman Catholicism. McLuhan would remain a strong Catholic throughout his career. Some argue that his religion played a heavy role in his philosophical studies. McLuhan became a pop culture figure in the 1960s with the publication of Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man (McGraw-Hill, 1964) and The Medium is the Massage: An Inventory of Effects (with designer Quentin Fiore, Random House, 1967). Famous for coining the phrases "The medium is the message" (he later published a book whose title was a play on this phrase—The Medium is the Massage) and "the global village", McLuhan became one of the early purveyors of the sound bite. He asserted that each different medium is an extension of the senses that affects the individual and society in distinct and pervasive ways, further classifying some media as "hot"—media which engage one's senses in a high-intensity, exclusive way, such as typography, radio, and film—and other media as "cool"—media of lower resolution or intensity, that require more interaction from the viewer, such as the telephone and the television. While many of his pronouncements and theories have been considered impenetrable, and by some absurd, McLuhan's central message—that to ...

UFOTV Presents... - Terence McKenna - The Last Word - Ayahuasca, Shamanism and Politics - Full Length Presentation

This film is dedicated to the work and play of Terrence McKenna, on the fractal edge of time, 1946 - 2000. Terence Kemp McKenna was an American author, public speaker, metaphysician, psychonaut, philosopher, ethnobotanist, art historian, and self-described anarchist, anti-materialist, environmentalist, feminist, Platonist and skeptic. During his lifetime he was noted for his knowledge of psychedelics, metaphysics, plant-based entheogens, shamanism, mysticism, Hermeticism, Neoplatonism, biology, geology, physics, phenomenology, and his concept of novelty theory. This video is included as a bonus film on the DVD "Shamans of the Amazon" now available in a 3-DVD Box Set - 260 mins - Cat# U670. Loaded with Bonus Features and featuring Terence McKenna. Go to www.UFOTV.com. "Shamans of the Amazon by Dean Jefferys is one of the best documentaries available on the use of ayahuasca in contemporary context, in traditional cultures that are being destabilized by the forces of globalization. As Jefferys' documentary makes clear, the revival of traditional shamanic practices with ayahuasca is proving to be a potent political and propaganda tool for reaffirming and preserving cultural values and identity in indigenous societies that are buffeted by environmental, economic, and societal forces beyond their control." - Dennis McKenna PhD, co-author The Invisible Landscape

Terrence Mckenna - Nobody is smarter than you are !!!

Terence McKenna grew up in Paonia, Colorado.[1] He was introduced to geology through his uncle and developed a hobby of solitary fossil hunting in the arroyos near his home.[specify] From this he developed a deep artistic and scientific appreciation of nature. At age 16, McKenna moved to, and attended high school in, Los Altos, California.[1] He was introduced to psychedelics through The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley[1] and Village Voice.[2] One of his early experiences with them came through morning glory seeds (containing LSA), which he claimed showed him "that there was something there worth pursuing."[1] After graduating from high school, McKenna enrolled in UC Berkeley. He moved to San Francisco during the Summer Of Love before his classes began, and was introduced to cannabis by Barry Melton in 1965 [3] and tried LSD soon later. As a freshman at UC Berkeley McKenna participated in the Tussman Experimental College, a short-lived two-year program on the Berkeley campus. He graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Conservation. One of McKenna's most widely-promulgated ideas is known as Novelty theory. It predicts the ebb and flow of novelty in the universe as an inherent quality of time. McKenna developed the theory in the mid-1970s after his experiences in the Amazon at La Chorrera led him to closely study the King Wen sequence of the I-Ching. Novelty theory involves ontology, extropy, and eschatology. The theory proposes that the ...

Terence McKenna - The Strange Attractor

Terence McKenna speaks in 1998 about what is known as 'The Strange Attractor,' or as he refers to it - the transcendental object at the end of time. He proposed that time and history flow towards an event in the perceived future (rather than being pushed by events in the past). Though time as we experience it flows from past to present, perhaps the fundamental nature of time and causal universal relationships is less linear than commonly believed. Could there be/will be/have been an event somewhere along the timeline that set things into motion and allowed for the existence of consciousness and the experience of time itself? Perhaps that event initiated a process that formed a loop which both posed a question and then answered itself (with the help of history and our participation within it). "The ways of the Creator are not our ways, Mr. Deasy said. All human history moves towards one great goal, the manifestation of God." ~ James Joyce, (Ulysses)

Novelty, i Ching and DNA -Terence McKenna 1/5

1998. Terence McKenna talks to John Hazard about Novelty Theory, and elaborates on its core principles involving hyper-complexification and the compression of Time. He holds forth on the correspondences between the structure of the DNA molecule and the Chinese I-Ching, then shows how his notion of an Archaic Revival leads from the theories of mind and the art movements of the early 20th century to the Shaman as the quintessential figure of the 21st century, with psychedelic substances being the bridge between these worldviews. Mckenna Biography: Terence McKenna received a BS in Ecology and Conservation from the Tussman Experimental College, a short-lived outgrowth of UC Berkeley, in 1969. He spent the months after his graduation traveling through India and other Asian countries, alternately smuggling hashish and collecting butterflies for biological supply companies. In 1971 Terence McKenna, his brother Dennis, and three others traveled to the Colombian Amazon in search of oo-koo-hé, a plant preparation containing DMT. At La Chorrera, at the urging of his brother, he allowed himself to be the subject of a psychedelic experiment which he claimed put him in contact with The Logos: an informative, hallucinatory voice nearly universal to the visionary experience. The revelations of this voice prompted him to undertake his investigations into the structure of the I Ching, which eventually led him to his Novelty Theory. Terence McKenna on Entheogens

Terence McKenna talks about philosophy, ideas, and the proper use of entheogens. "Science has not been helpful in the matter of elusive human contacts with other intelligences. It prefers to direct its attention elsewhere, with the comment that subjective experiences, however peculiar, are not its province. What a pity, since subjective experience is all that any of us ever has. Anyhow, the largely subjective nature of the so-called objective universe has now been secured by that most objective of the sciences, physics. The new physics has the subjective observer inextricably tangled with the phenomena observed. Ironically, this is a return to the shamanic point of view. The real intellectual legacy of quantum physics may be the new respectability and primacy that it gives to subjectivity. Recentering ourselves in our subjectivity means a tremendous new reempowering of language, for language is the stuff of which the subjective world is made." -Terence McKenna
