Then shall the eyes of the blind ... He shall feed His flock like a shepherd from George F. Handel's 1741 masterwork "the Messiah" performed by Boston's Baroque Orchestra and Chorus in 1992 The collection of slides from the middle 1700s to early 1800s come from England. Some are of King George II. Some are Handel himself. Others are of great abolitionists and those yearning to be free. Still others are paintings from the late medieval to early modern period (1300s-1700s) portraying the Madonna and Child. Finally there are those representing the contemporary Christmas experience in Italy, Mexico and North America. Thematically the slides do not fit together in any historical sense, but should be taken emotionally and spiritually with the tenor of the rich music. They express timeless desires and a yearning for God.

My interpretation of it is stripped down to essentials: acoustic guitar and voice only. The song was Warwick's first single release on Arista after an unsuccessful tenure at Warner Bros. Records. The song brought Warwick renewed popularity when it reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, #6 in Canada and #13 on the Billboard Magazine R&B Chart. The song won Warwick a 1980 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. This is admittedly a strange video about an occult-inspired rock duo fronted by Billy Joel named Atilla. They posed dressed as barbarians on the front of their only album with slabs of slaughtered animals hanging from meat hooks. By 1973, Billy Joel had stopped relying on heavy drugs and satanism and had morphed into the Piano Man, which proves that perhaps all are capable of redemption.
