street fight scene from the movie "Xanda"

A scene from the Chinese action flick "Xanda", which is a movie based on the martial art "sanda" (also known as "sanshou"). Sanda is a modernised form of kung-fu which evolved from various wushu styles with foundations based on Jeet Kune Do and Shuai Chiao (Chinese wrestling). It is now a popular full-contact sport much like kickboxing that also allows the use of throws, body slams and take-downs. This scene shows what it would be like for a practitioner of traditional kung-fu to be pitted against a professional sanda fighter. The guy in black is using traditional Chinese kung-fu against the guy in the grey tank-top who is a full-contact sanda competitor.

Ikuzo Yoshi - sake yo (alcohol)

吉 幾三 - 酒よA song by Japanese folk (Enka) singer Ikuzo Yoshi (吉 幾三). Basically the type of song for anyone out there to listen to alone when you are down and depressed and feel the need to drink in excess to suppress the painful thoughts or memories. I guess it's safe to say this song is every depressed alcoholic's 'drinking anthem' LOL.

MC Hotdog - 哈狗幫(The Hotdog Crew)

An older song by Taiwanese rapper/hip-hop artist MC Hotdog. One of his earlier singles that never really made to the mainstream due to the rebellious content and explicit lyrics. In this song, he pretty much raps about him being the supreme leader of his own hip-hop 'cult' and the beneficial effects of worshipping him as a deity. Gotta love this guy for his brash, outspoken attitude hahaha.

Bulsara feat. Tatar - all up

A song by Mongolian rock/punk group Bulsara, featuring Mongolian hip-hop group Tatar. An excellent collaboration of 2 different music genres by 2 of Mongolia's most famous artists. Note: No music video has been made for this song. I basically just mixed together scenes from the other music videos of the 2 groups and added in this song to go along with it.

It is now a popular full-contact sport much like kickboxing that also allows the use of throws, body slams and take-downs. In this scene, the main character, Qiang, experiences his first ever bout against a much experienced fighter. Lots of body slams and take-downs demonstrated in this scene.

Epic drama series "Genghis Khan" opening

Title: 成吉思汗This is the opening video of the Chinese historical/epic drama series about the Mongolian emperor, Genghis Khan. The series tells the story of how he united all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia and later leading his troops to carve out the greatest land empire ever known on the Eurasian continent. Despite most actors/actresses being ethnic Mongols, this series is a Chinese production with the credits and dialogues in Mandarin Chinese. The original theme song to the opening video was just bland violin music with no vocals, so I decided to replace the background audio with Central Asian throat-singing music so as to make it more 'Mongol'. Enjoy! Song: Warrior's Words Artist: Altai Kai

Epic drama series "Hua Mulan" opening

Title: 花木蘭Taiwanese produced historical drama series based on the legend of a young lady called Hua Mulan who disguised herself as a man to take her elderly father's place in the army. Her male friends in the army soon discovered her real gender towards the end of her military service. Disney's cartoon movie "Mulan" is actually an adaptation of this Chinese legend. Hua Mulan is actually her full name. This epic series is based during the Sui Dynasty era of China (around 600AD) at a time when the Chinese were involved in a series of wars with Turkic-Mongol peoples from Mongolia, known as the Göktürks (known as Tujue in Chinese). Disney's movie inaccurately named the Turkic-Mongols the 'Huns', who were in fact the people who ruled Mongolia about 200 years before the Göktürks. "Heroes of the 3 Kingdoms Era: Lord Guan Yu" closing

Title: 關公This is the closing video for the Taiwanese produced 1996 historical drama series called "Heroes of the 3 Kingdoms Era: Lord Guan Yu". It is based on the well known Chinese historical novel "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms", but focuses mainly on the great general Guan Yu and his role in the events that took place during the final years of the Chinese Han Dynasty and the 3 Kingdoms Era (220 AD -- 280AD). The video games "Dynasty Warriors" and "Shin Sangokumusou" (both produced by the Japanese) are an adaptation of the story that took place during the 3 Kingdoms Era. All the characters in the game are all in this series, such as Guan Yu, Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Lu Bu, Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, Huang Gai etc...

sparring scene from the movie "Xanda"

A scene from the Chinese action flick "Xanda", which is a movie based on the martial art "sanda" (also known as "sanshou"). Sanda is a modernised form of kung-fu which evolved from various wushu styles with foundations based on Jeet Kune Do and Shuai Chiao (Chinese wrestling). It is now a popular full-contact sport much like kickboxing that also allows the use of throws, body slams and take-downs. This scene shows a sparring practice between a practitioner of traditional kung-fu (Qiang) and a sanda fighter. Some of the deficiencies of traditional kung-fu can be seen here (such as the rigid stances and wide openings). As demonstrated and explained by the sanda fighter, the heavy reliance on 'form' by Qiang is useless if applied in a full-contact bout, and his lack of fluidity allows the former to gain the upper hand in this sparring practice.

Stanley Huang - Who am I to you? (who's your 'daddy'?)

黄立行- 我是你的誰? Music video of a song by Taiwanese rap-metal artist, Stanley Huang (黄立行). The song is sung in Chinese (Mandarin). In this song he talks about being sexually dominated by a chic he picked up and after having to go through the ordeal, he vows that he will soon turn the tables against her and make her call him 'daddy'. Hahaha, hilarious. The original MV had a shorter version of the song, so I decided to edit the video and add the full version in it along with additional scenes (taken from some of Stanley's commercials) to fill in the blanks in between. Enjoy! The English translation of the lyrics are as follows- Verse 1: Her legs are long and slim comparable to Taipei 101 tower/ Wearing high heels, ass shaking side by side/ The target in my firing range feels my aggression vibes/ She tosses her hair back and notices I'm swooping in for the kill/ not one bit scared, she gives me a sly look/ she then winks at me signalling me to follow her/ taking my hand and leading me into her room/ my body hair stood on ends/ as she sweet-talked me with provocative content/ Chorus: Ok, you are finished! Just you wait and see!/ I want you to get down on your knees and call me 'daddy' out loud!/ Who's your daddy huh? Just you wait and see!/ I want you to get down on your knees and call me 'daddy' out loud!/ Verse2: The light shines on my face and I can't see where she is/ my 2 hands hand-cuffed behind my back/ I opened my mouth and asked her what she's trying to do/ a ...
