Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi was heckled by a prominent journalist and blogger Abebe Gelaw, during a high-level G8 Symposium in Washington DC . The Ethiopian Prime Minister, who was sitting next to the duly elected President of Ghana, was visibly shocked when he was interrupted while speaking to the audience. The activist shouted "Freedom, Freedom, Meles Zenawi is a Dictator, You are committing crime against humanity". Speaking to ESAT TV, Mr. Gelaw said security forces came and removed him from the conference room and was later released without incident.

Abebe Gellaw, an award-winning journalist on Friday unleashed an avalanche of indignant words and condemnations against Prime Minister Meles Zenawi who was ironically lecturing about economic growth at the G-8 Summit in Camp David, United States. Meles was lecturing with audacity about economic growth when the ESAT program producer Abebe brought the sky crushing down on the head of one of Africa's ruthless tyrants. Abebe chanted many times: "Meles Zenawi is a dictator! Free Eskinder Nega! Free Political Prisoners!" in a voice that brought the conference to a screeching halt. Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Africa is attracting the textile and apparel industry due to cheap labor power and raw material. Speaking at the official opening of a trade expo "Origin Africa 2012-Ethiopia" here on Wednesday Meles said Africa has natural resources and cheap labor, which enable it to do the work required in the industry. He said as infrastructure is necessary to make any business profitable, priority must be given for the development of the sector in the continent. Meles said Ethiopia has recognized infrastructure development whether in transportation, telecommunication and electricity as priority and is working towards realizing it. The trade expo is organized to raise awareness about Africa as a sourcing destination and change perceptions about doing business in Africa, targeting a global audience of buyers, business leaders and designers.
