Diet Coke and Mentos Near Death
In the summer after graduating from high school, a few friends got together and decided to experiment with amateur rocketry by mixing Diet Coke and Mentos at their local high school tennis court. After ten or so failed attempts, they were down to their last bottle of Coke. Feeling like the last bottle was finally going to take flight, the cameraman turned on his point-and-shoot camera and began to take video. The rest is viral video history. The Extreme Diet Coke & Mentos Experiments

Experiment 1: Mentos and Diet Coke explosion. We tried this 3 different ways: 1.) Drop full sleeve of mentos in close cap, shake, loosen cap slightly, and watch it explode. 2.) Take cap off, open mentos, and drop all mentos in without sleeve, (without cap) 3.) Drop full sleeve of mentos in, close cap tightly. shake fast, loosen cap, and throw against ground. All worked well but we had the most sucess with try number two (shown in video.) This is a quick, cheap, simple, and fun experiment you can do at home. (: -Jessica
Mentos and Diet Coke Experiment by two Girls and Their Dad - Reality Video - How it Works
Two girls decided to experiment with Mentos and Diet Coke. They have a unique way of showing how they do it. See how their dad gets involved and makes a Mentos and Diet coke rocket on a guy wire. This was an attempt to see if Mentos power combined with the power of Diet Coke would be able to propel itself across a guy wire that was attached with two trees about 5 feet off the ground. Learn about what makes the soda geyser possible as we explain a little about the science behind the Mentos and Diet coke project. When you drop the Mentos into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candy break the surface tension. This disrupts the water mesh, so that it takes less work to expand and form new bubbles. Each Mentos candy has thousands of tiny pits all over the surface. These tiny pits are called nucleation sites - perfect places for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. As soon as the Mentos hit the soda, bubbles form all over the surface of the candy. How to Make a Spectacular Volcano
This is a Diet Coke and Mentos Volcano. The challenge is to make it fast, easy, cleanable, and waterproof. All done easily and in ten minutes. You just need to let it dry then paint it. Ingesting Diet Coke & Mentos
Normally I would've been up to try the diet coke and mentos, but when there was another volunteer, I figured why be the guinea pig. After watching what happened, I'm glad I didn't make the attempt. For those who are unfamiliar, mixing diet coke and mentos results in a strong eruption (should work with any carbonated drinks). To cause an eruption in the stomach, you need to drink diet coke and quickly swallow the mentos whole. We were going for the strongest eruption possible but failed (I think it should've been diet coke before mentos). Still had some funny results. This is what happens when you eat In-N-Out and Krispy Kreme Donuts before ingesting diet coke and mentos. Gotta love the laughing -- we are jerks.

Mentos have finally been officially released in the UK, so I thought I'd try that old Diet Coke trick to see what would happen with our EU approved ingredients version, with rather unexpected results.
