Bach - Julia Hamari - Matthäus Passion - Erbarme dich

It goes deep into your soul. It is the most beautiful involvement of a interpreter with a work. She was in a trance. She was out of this world. No words. Just watch, listen and get out of this world for some minutes with her.

Rameau - Platee - La Folie - Hymen

Although the libretto is not by Moliere, his spirit seems to be present on the stage giving all inspiration. After watching this video I agreed with Berlioz and Debussy, who said: "Rameau is the greatest french composer ever".

Moscow 1980 - Opening Ceremony - Children´s show

Definitely, Moscow 1980 olympic games opening and closing ceremonies are the most beautiful spectacles I have ever seen. This performance made by children makes me very happy and reminds me that what makes a spectacle is not artificiality of techonology, but creativeness, good ideas and things really worth to show.

Romeo & Juliet - Zefirelli - 1968 - New Soundtrack - Part 1

A more appropriate soundtrack for the dance and song scenes of Zefirelli´s Romeu and Juliet. Nino Rota was a great composer and I like his original music for the film, but as a renaissance music aficionado I always imagined the famous ball scene with music from the epoch in order to feel even more immersed in that magic atmosphere. Vincenzo Capirola - Padoana Alla Francesa - A renaissance (rebirth) for life music

Little is known about Vincenzo Capirola´s life, but it is certain that he was born about 1474 in Brescia from a noble family, had a high level education, was the author of the famous Capirola´s Lute Book and that after have travelled a lot, he eventually established his career as a musician and composer in Venice and died there about 1548. I uploaded this video wondering that Vincenzo used to watch this very same sunset in Venice while playing his lute. Travel back in time and imagine yourself having the privilege of being beside him listening to his music and appreciating this landscape from his house´s window. This music also makes me meet my inner child and arises in me the sense of making peace, knowing and strengthen the bonds with myself, the mankind and the Universe. In other words, it is Renaissance. Jacques Gallot - Suite in F Sharp Minor - Prelude - A Magical Music

Jacques Gallot (or Jacques de Gallot, le vieux Gallot de Paris) (c. 1625 -- c. 1695, Paris, France) was a French lutenist and composer. He came from a Parisian family of lutenists and composers. He was a student of Ennemond Gaultier. In Paris, he published Pièces de luth composées sur differens mode introduced by a brief treatment of the lute. Style brisé (French: "broken style") is a term for broken, arpeggiated texture in instrumental music. It usually refers to French Baroque music for lute, keyboard instruments or the viol. French Baroque musicians referred to this type of texture as style luthé ("lute style"), since it originated in lute music. The defining feature of style brisé is the use of diverse, unpredictable ways of breaking up chordal progressions and melodies. This technique was first used by early French lutenists such as Ennemond Gaultier (c.1575--1651) and Denis Gaultier (1603--1672) and quickly gained popularity in France. Jacques Gallot was also one of the developers of this musical form and the music heard in this video is a great example of that style of composition and playing of the lute. It is a magical music!!! From the CD Jacques de Gallot - Pièces de Luth Astrée Auvidis Hopkinson Smith, Lute

Psalm 91 - Qui Habitat in Adjutorio (He that dwells in the aid of the most High) - Bálint Bakfark

Bálint Bakfark (his name is variously spelled as Bacfarc, Bakfarc, Bakfarkh, Bakffark, Backuart, and occasionally his first name is rendered as Valentin); 1507 -- August 15 or August 22, 1576) was a Hungarian composer and lutenist of the Renaissance. He was enormously influential as a lutenist in his time, and renowned as a virtuoso on the instrument. PSALM 91 1 Qui habitat in adjutorio Altissimi, in protectione Dei cæli commorabitur. 2 Dicet Domino : Susceptor meus es tu, et refugium meum; Deus meus, sperabo in eum. 3 Quoniam ipse liberavit me de laqueo venantium, et a verbo aspero. 4 Scapulis suis obumbrabit tibi, et sub pennis ejus sperabis. 5 Scuto circumdabit te veritas ejus : non timebis a timore nocturno; 6 a sagitta volante in die, a negotio perambulante in tenebris, ab incursu, et dæmonio meridiano. 7 Cadent a latere tuo mille, et decem millia a dextris tuis; ad te autem non appropinquabit. 8 Verumtamen oculis tuis considerabis, et retributionem peccatorum videbis. 9 Quoniam tu es, Domine, spes mea; Altissimum posuisti refugium tuum. 13 Super aspidem et basiliscum ambulabis, et conculcabis leonem et draconem. 14 Quoniam in me speravit, liberabo eum; protegam eum, quoniam cognovit nomen meum. 15 Clamabit ad me, et ego exaudiam eum; cum ipso ...
