Lighter and more muscular, more distinctive and more fuel-efficient The new Boxster generation -- the mid-engine roadster from Porsche Stuttgart. Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster was a change of generation so comprehensive. The open-top two-seater car is being marketed with a completely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. Considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance yet further the mid-engine sports car's driving dynamics, already far and away the best in its class, supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. The new Boxsters boast superior performance and are also up to 15 per cent more fuel-efficient. Depending on model, they get by with significantly less than eight litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. The new Boxster thus delivers what the fundamentally changed styling with shorter overhangs, significantly forward-shifted windscreen, flatter silhouette and expressive edges promises. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully electric hood, which now dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with the raked centre console, which, originating with the Carrera GT, ensures further improved ergonomics in all models. The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six ...

New 2012 Porsche Cayman R (HD)

The Porsche alphabet reserves the letter R for very special sports cars: R for responsive and refined -- but most especially for racy. The new Cayman R combines all these attributes without compromise. 55 kilograms (121 lb) lighter and with ten horsepower more than the Cayman S, the new mid-engine coupé from Dr. Ing. hc F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is designed for spectacular road behaviour. With its specially adapted sports chassis, it provides an even more precise driving experience than the Cayman S. The new mid-engine coupé is powered by a tuned-up 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine developing 330 hp (243 kW). In the standard configuration it transmits its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds. Or there is the option of the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) that reduces its acceleration time to 4.9 seconds. For even more impressive sprinting performance, the Cayman R can be supplied with one of the optional Sport Chrono packages, taking it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds. The new mid-engine coupé is capable of a top speed of 282 km/h (175 mph) with manual gearbox, or 280 km/h (174 mph) with PDK. Its NEDC fuel consumption is 9.7 l/100 km (29.12 mpg imp.) with six-speed gearbox and 9.3 l/100 km (30.37 mpg imp.) with PDK. The main aim during the design of the Cayman R was to improve the two-seater even further in its performance, driving dynamics and agility through consistent ...

PURE ENGINE SOUND: Lancia Rally 037 Evo.2 Group B

This is a unique piece of video, part of "Pure Engine Sound Collection", made by several clips of Beppe Volta's Lancia Rally 037 Evo.2 during historic rally exhibitions. This movie, produced by Nickland.org, has been edited by Nicolò Caneparo. The entire footage is property of Nickland.org, and any improper or unauthorized use will be punished according the current terms of law. The Lancia Rally 037 (also known as the Lancia Abarth #037) was a mid-engine rally car built by Lancia in the early 1980s purely for the FIA Group B World Rally Championship. Driven by Markku Alén, Attilio Bettega, and Walter Röhrl, the car won Lancia the manufacturers' world championship in the 1983 season. HISTORY: In 1981 Lancia began designing the 037 to comply with the then new FIA Group B regulations that allowed cars to race with relatively few homologation models being built. As the project was number 037, this eventually became the name by which the car was known. Abarth, now a part of the Lancia-Fiat family, did most of the design work, even incorporating styling cues from some of its famous race cars of the 1950s and 1960s such as a double bubble roof line. Prior to its first participation in the 1982 World Rally Championship season, 200 road-going models were built to comply with Group B regulations. The car made its competition debut at the 1982 Rally Costa Smeralda in Italy, where two cars were entered but both retired due to gearbox issues. The 1982 season was plagued with ...

Ford RS200 - The World's Greatest Rally Car INTEGRALE VESTITO

INTEGRALE VESTITO CHANNEL - The Ford RS200 is a mid-engined, four-wheel drive sports car produced by Ford from 1984 through 1986. The road-going RS200 was based on Ford's Group B rally car and was designed to comply with FIA homologation regulations, which required 200 road legal versions be built. Despite some rumours to the contrary, the RS200 was not based on the European version of the Escort, as were both its predecessor and successor. ENGINE: Power came from a 1.8 litre, single turbocharged Ford/Cosworth "BDT" engine producing 250 horsepower (190 kW) in road-going trim, and between 350 and 450 horsepower (340 kW) in racing trim; upgrade kits were available for road-going versions to boost power output to over 300 horsepower (220 kW). Although the RS had the balance and poise necessary to be competitive, its power to weight ratio was poor by comparison, and its engine produced notorious low-RPM lag, making it difficult to drive and ultimately less competitive.

Ferrari 246 S at Le Mans

Just as Ferrari embarked on their V6 Formula One program, they debuted a V6 sports car at the 1958 Goodwood Sussex Trophy. Looking like a miniature Testa Rossa, this car was tested as its replacement for the upcoming 3-liter sports car championship. The Dino was named in memory of Dino Ferrari who motivated engineer Vittorio Jano to design a V6. He used an unusual angle of 65 degrees to achieve better intake ducting and modified the crankshaft accordingly. This V6 debuted in 1957 for the 1.5-liter Formula 2 Championship and was enlarged in 1958 for Formula One. The Goodwood car used an engine similar to the Formula One engine and was known as the '246 S'. It was a 2-liter version of the quad-cam V6 engine that was bored at 77mm to have 1983cc displacement and 225 bhp @ 8500 rpm. This engine sat in a typical frame similar to the Testa Rossa's with a solid rear axle, coil springs , and the 250 GT 4-speed manual. This first car (0740) was left hand drive and driven by Peter Collins at Goodwood to finish third. The same car appeared at Naples with Luigi Musso, but he smashed and spun the car too much to win. At Silverstone's over-1500cc race, Ferrari brought out their V6 Testa Rossa 'replacement'. Known as the Dino 296S this three-liter V6 had 300 bhp and looked promising-but this was only in specification. Driver Mike Hawthorn recalled it was 'catching up everyone on the straight, only to lose it again on the corners.' He was dealing with excessive over steer, roll and ...

Best of group B (Audi quattro, 205T16, Lancia Delta S4, R5 Turbo)

Best of group B. FIA (International Automobile Federation) introduced Group B in 1982 as the most exotic category in motor rallying. The regulations for Group B required the manfacturers to build only 200 road cars, very much lower than Group A's 5000 cars. Besides, more modifications were allowed for the race version. Therefore car makers could put as much state-of-the-art technology as possible into their racing cars. This created a golden era in motor rallying history - Audi, Lancia, Peugeot, Ford, Citroen and Austin Rover created many super rally cars to compete in World Rally Championship, all with at least 400 horsepower, lightweight Kevlar body and most of them were mid-engined and 4-wheel drive also. Recalling that period, motor rally enthusiasts always regard that as the best moment of their life. WRC had never been as exciting as that period. What a pity the Group B ended in misery. In 1986 season, series of accidents involving spectators as well as led to the death of Lancia's top driver Henri Toivonen and navigator Sergio Cresto happened. Group B was accused of being too powerful and too light to be controllable. As a result, FIA axed it after that season.

Lamborghini Factory 1/5 ( Murciélago SV ) INTEGRALE VESTITO

Top Gear Series 18 Outtakes: Jeremy Clarkson Buys Richard Hammond a Gift (Unseen + 1080p HD)

Yeah! It's one of those brand new Top Gear series 18 outtakes again. This one is from episode 1 again and is the unseen footage of Clarkson buying Hammond a special gift. You know the sort of present, it is really stupid and pointless. Anyway, if you can't stretch your memory that long ago, here is what happened on that weekend: Challenge: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are in Italy - Lecce to be exact - and this week it's for one of their big road trips and supercar shootouts. They are attempting to find which mid-engined supercar is better than a Ferrari 458 Italia. Hammond chose a Noble M600, May a McLaren MP4-12C and Clarkson a Lamborghini Aventador. The team begin by trying to find out how fast they dare to go and the fuel consumption at such a speed by performing top speed runs at the Nardo Ring Test Track, which turned out that both Hammond and Clarkson got 204 miles per hour (with Hammond faster for 0.5mph) and May for 201mph. The trio then head to Rome to find a restaurant at the central of the city, a challenge that May won as Clarkson had to find a parking space and Hammond's car had failed during the drive at the Italian countryside. Finally, the trio had to take part in the time trial challenge, in which that all must set their fastest time around the Imola Grand Prix track, Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Adding spice to their challenge, The Stig's Italian cousin had set a fast time in a Ferrari 458 that they must beat, a 1:56.6. After ...
