Can't even find the wikipedia article for this album, 2197. Anyway, what I know about it is that it was published by Troubadour Records. It's great music, but unheard. The wikipedia article for Troubadour Records will give more of an idea of what's going on: Troubadour Records is an independent Japanese record label, founded in 1992 by Shinji Hosoe. The label was set up to release original (non-game) work by numerous video game composers. Some of the composers who have released material on the label include Hitoshi Sakimoto, Ayako Saso, Takayuki Aihara, Motoaki Takenouchi, Hayato Matsuo, Nobuyoshi Sano and Yasuhisa Watanabe, among many others. Troubadour Records has also released music by some of Hosoe's side projects, such as Oriental Magnetic Yellow and Manikyua-Dan. This is the last of the videos I recorded a few weeks ago (I did them all at once, which is why I'm wearing the same dress^^)... it's the "Theme of Sadness" from the original Suikoden. Suikoden is one of the lesser known jrpgs, but one that I hold very dear to my heart. It's funny because when I first started playing I kept thinking, "yeah yeah, empire, rebels, been there done that..." But then about an hour into the game I realized that I was completely drawn into the story and already incredibly attached to several of the characters. The game's music is also very beautiful (and composed by a fellow female composer named Miki Higashino). Do you have a favorite Suikoden character? Mine is definitely Gremio. This is the Passacaglia from Genso Suikoden. Game by Konami, music composed by Miki Higashino. It's not my arrangement, and the arranger/transcriber is not credited in the sheets. I also don't remember where I got the sheets from, I've had them for a while now. This transcription is very accurate except for one part where you would obviously need to use the pedalboard of the organ to play everything. I usually don't like to use other sounds than the original piano, but this piece was originally written for organ and since I have that sound on my digital piano, I thought I'd give it a try. It's interesting to play like this, because using the sustain pedal with the organ produces a weird sound and it's really a challenge not to use it. I was surprised - It was a lot harder to play this piece than I had thought. It seems that just because you can play piano doesn't mean you can just sit down at an organ and play as if it's the same instrument. It is sure remarkable to find a piece of this caliber in a game soundtrack. Suikoden is truly underrated, especially in the music department.
