Update: This system is very outdated now, it was created just after boosters were discovered, it's flawed in numerous ways and much more advanced designs have been created since. The texture pack is not available as I stopped working on it long ago and have moved on to using painterlypack.net - This is the second version of my automatic minecart station, serving as a proof of concept for an infinitely looping, unpowered minecart network with the potential for a large number of exits. This centralized station produces enough power to go twice as far as shown and still return. Additional boosters can be easily placed anywhere along the track for theoretically boundless travel over any terrain. The next version should include signs and redstone torches to make it more user friendly and I hope to eventually add an extensive redstone network running underneath the tracks so that you can remotely summon a minecart from any location. If buttons were larger, this could all be operated from within the cart. For reference, the long incline to the surface is just over 50 blocks upwards. Thanks to Lightfox on Minecraftforum for the concept images and video that got me started. Texture pack is a mix of Taehl's Texture Pack, DVan's Brown & Bloom, various other packs and personal edits.

This is an improved version of my resource gate. It is more compact, works with mine carts, and items passing through it are not influenced by the water flow. I plan on using this for a complex mine cart storage system. An obvious application for this gate is to use it as a mine cart booster. It is stationary, meaning there is no issues with it stopping if chunks unload.

I decided to play around with an idea because honestly the full circle track isn't very cost effective for iron. The idea was initially on each end create a roundabout booster, and surround it with track that loops back onto the main track so regardless of which way the booster is spinning your cart will go back from where it came. I however discovered something. The more contact your cart has with the booster, the more likely the booster is to fail (IE fall off the tracks or just outright slowdown and stop working). So when you place the booster, place it so it will have the least contact with your cart as possible when it comes back for another pass. Unlike what I did in this, you may consider putting boosters on each side of your railway, the reasoning being if the moving cart collides with anything short of the booster it will just stop (as seen by my collision with some bacon). The two boosters I have placed in my base running two separate subway lines have failed once after 4 minecraft nights, and by fail I mean they stopped glitching and were slowly spinning. This however is far better than the carts blinking and becoming untouchable. And to get them going again you just have to collide with them a bit with your body or the minecart. For practical usage outside of a walled base? Create a train station (building with the booster inside), and a train track which is elevated above the ground to prevent random animals or enemies from boarding your cart and giving you a <b>...</b>

As well, I get such a low FPS because i'm recording the video. I typically get around 400 FPS otherwise. Yes I have tried recording to an alternate hard drive, and it improved it slightly to 50FPS.* I finally figured out a way to make perpetual motion with only 5 minecarts needed. It will emit a force strong enough to make a minecart continue on it's track for eternity, even to the top of the map, down to the bottom, then all the way back up. A minecraft cannon is always a fun thing, and a great addition to any sky fortress. if your in the dark about it, here is a quick how to. go and grab the program "INVEdit" (Inventory Edit) off of the minecraft forum (or just google it) this will allow you to edit your inventory to put whatever you want in it. just use the open from world and save to world tabs and your set. you will need alot of water, some obsidian, a building block of any kind, redstone dust, TNT armour (if you plan on surviving it, you can make the armour near invincible by setting it's damage to -1000) track, a mine cart or two, some redstone switches and redstone torches, regular torches (always build in a well lit area if you build during night, especially when working with TNT). find a spot where you want to put yoru cannon, and then put down a large square floor of obsidian, this isn't nessesary, but if somethign goes wrong it will limit the damage. now, you want to build a trough of water, some people have them one bloc wide, some people have them 2 blocks wide, i prefere 2 blocks, it helps eliminate the TNT from catching. i show the basic design of my cannon at the start of the vid. you need the water in the bottom, so that when you actiate all of that redstone wireing the water collects the TNT, helps move it too the front, and stops the detonation from harming the environment. how you set up the cannon to fire is simple. you need some blocks of TNT at the back to fire first, they should be on <b>...</b>

Is your water elevator broken? Minecraft update 1.6 brought about the end of boativators, water ladders, and many other glitch-dependent transportation systems like minecart boosters. This short video shows a WORKING rapid transit elevator system that you can use for the latest update. It is incredibly fast, compact (only 2x2 space is required!), and requires no maintenance whatsoever. It is easy to make and even easier to use. The only real downside is that you need to craft ~15 minecarts for a full bedrock-to-surface elevator, which translates to roughly ~75 iron. I think it's well worth it, and if you've been playing for very long, you should have at least one or two 64-stacks of iron. Make sure you craft a "dismount cart" at the top of your shaft so that you can easily exit the elevator upon reaching the top. Another huge benefit of this style is that you can stop at any level you wish to dismount, making it perfect for apartment-style complexes, multi-level mineshafts, or any other design that might require a stop on the way up. Please note that I did not invent this style of elevator, all credit goes to those who did, although I can't be certain who thought of it first. An 8-bay automatic minecart depot. A powered minecart pushing a storage minecart (from your mine) enters, the storage minecart stays in the depot and the powered minecart returns with an empty storage minecart for further mining. I was attempting to do this without using any glitches/cheats/hacks, but I had to resort to using a booster cart to trigger a pressure plate for cart routing. If a pressure plate minecart track block is ever introduced, the booster could be removed. Update: Here is a save file that includes a bare-bones version of the depot: dl.dropbox.com
