Hello, thanks for putting up the Miracles piece on YouTube. Just thought I'd point out which musicians you are actually hearing play on the songfrom the horses mouth so to speak. Personnel didn't change from the beginning of the Jefferson Starship in 1974 until the riot in Germany in 1978 when we had to cancel a show because Grace was too ill to play. The original Jefferson Starship (we actually only played two or three Airplane songs live) recorded the song "Miracles" which you are hearing, in 1975. It was from the hit album, Red Octopus. The band consisted of: Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Craig Chaquico, Papa John Creach, David Frieburg, Pete Sears (me), and John Barbata. Paul played rhythm guitar and sang back-ups on the track, Craig lead guitar, Papa John violin, Marty lead vocal, Grace lead back-ups, David Frieburg played the haunting B3 organ riff on the song and also sang back-ups, John Barbata drums, and I played both bass guitar and piano on the track. We had some good times with that band...I wrote a lot with Grace including the song Hyperdrive, and the band would play long three hour sets with plenty of improvisation. Jefferson Airplane had broken-up in 1972 after Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady decided to concentrate on Hot Tuna...I later joined Hot Tuna on piano for a wonderful ten year run during the 1990's.The Jefferson Starships sound, record producer, and several personnel changed quite drastically during the 1980's, eventually fizzling out at <b>...</b>

Here is a pioneering Tamla Motown record from 1960: 'Shop Around'by The Miracles. It is notable as being the label's first #1 hit on the Billboard magazine R&B singles chart, and also hit #2 on the Hot 100 (#1 pop, Cashbox). This history-making song is also noted for being the first million-selling record of The Miracles' and The Motown Record Corporation, as well as a 2006 Grammy Hall of Fame inductee. It was written by Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson and two versons were actually recorded, the first being a bluesy version designed for local release, and this one being the nationaly released version designed to be more commercially viable outside of 'Motortown' but it still is a great Detroit soul track. The Miracles (known from 1965 to 1972 as Smokey Robinson & the Miracles) is an American rhythm and blues group from Detroit, Michigan, notable as the first successful group act for Berry Gordy's Motown Records. The Miracles went on to become one of Motown's signature acts of the 1960s, during which time their original lead singer and founding member Smokey Robinson became one of the most successful songwriters and record producers of all time. The Jackson Sisters (not to be confused with Jackson sisters, LaToya, Janet, and Rebbie who were the siblings to American soul group the Jackson Five) were an American soul and disco family group in the 1970s. The group hailed from Compton, California but were based in Detroit, Michigan. The Jackson Sisters comprised of Jacqueline Jackson-Rencher, Lyn Jackson, Pat Jackson, Rae Jackson and Gennie Jackson. They recorded material for the Tiger Lily Records label, obtaining some modest success in the 1970s. However the group really came into their own nearly a decade later, following the emergence of the rare groove scene in the UK. Many of their songs were written by Johnny Bristol. Bobby Taylor, produced and co-wrote their rare groove anthem, "I Believe In Miracles", in 1976. The track reached #72 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1987.

Exciting news for everyone who's been asking where they can buy some of these videos in sharp DVD quality. Coming in November on DVD. "DON'T FORGET THE MOTORCITY". A three disc collection of 100 videos of the former classic artists of Motown. The Detroit Sound lives again. Released on Wienerworld - 19th November 2007. A wonderful three disc set of all the videos from the classic former Motown stars. Each disc contains thirty three/four songs at around three minutes something, per track. An approximate running time of almost two hours per disc. The selling point is the 100 songs. We have been systematically editing them over the last six months to promote my work on YouTube and MySpace and people have been begging for them on a DVD. Now this video is really special. I dreamed of getting the Miracles, Motown's first ever super group, back together, so we ended up recording this in three cities. Billy Griffin put down a guide vocal in London when he was there, then we went to Detroit and recorded original Miracle Bobby Roger's new Miracles line-up on it (the same line-up we used for the brilliant "Fun Time"). Then we took the tape to Los Angeles, and added Claudette Robinson to the backing vocals from Bobby Rogers' group. Then Billy resang the lead vocal, and of course he was the original writer and lead vocalist on the song. A very special and historic occasion, and the footage has remained unseen till now.
