This is the opening track of the amazing album "Stolen From Strangers" by Jun Miyake. Vocals by Arto Lindsay, another great musician. "Alviverde" means "white and green", and these lyrics are in Portuguese. They're pretty much meaningless, by the way, so don't worry too much about them. I'm posting this mostly to promote the album and the guy. I recently discovered Miyake's work because of his amazing score for "Stink Bomb", the second animated short movie in the three-part "Memories", an excellent Japanese production. Awesome film, you should check it out too. I'm not gonna post the rest of the album, but if you liked this one, you should probably check it out for yourself. It's available on lots of places. Issey Miyake Unfolds Origami-Inspired "132 5″ Eco-Fashion Collection Process informed work generated by Issey Miyake's Reality Lab. Flat surfaces are folded, creased and ultimately transformed using traditional origami sequential patterns. Unfolded and remapped, sequential analysis reinforces the concept of regeneration. Individual statement garments lie folded flat like a series of collapsed geometric landscapes. Pulled up and unfolded, however, each compressed form gracefully spatialized into three-dimensions. Abstract Sculptural expressions whose wearability would seem like an accidental discovery...except it's not an accident. This line has it's own language, distinct from the rest of the wearable universe. Mixed-use garments; shirts, jackets, skirt, or dresses that can be worn as variable elements. A wardrobe in constant programmatic flux. NUMBERS GAME The secret to 132 5, a Reality Lab concept. The clothing is first designed using a software program, built by computer scientist and post-modern origami guru Jun Mitani, generates intricate three-dimensional shapes from a single flat sheet of paper. Once Miyaki and his team replicate the forms in recycled PET polyester, they examine ways of refolding the garments into flat, planar shapes through the incorporation of cut-lines. The clothing is first designed using a program that generates 3D shapes from a single sheet of paper. It's this multidisciplinary process, in fact, that lends the collection its name. Miyake Daiko is an energetic style of Taiko characterized by a driving beat with the drums positioned horizontally and set on very low stands. This style of drumming originated on Miyake Island, which is located out in the Pacific Ocean, south of Tokyo, with an active volcano situated in the middle of it. The piece is unique in the way the drummers must position themselves to play the drums. It is a beautiful playing style to watch, in which the drums are completely free to resonate. Performed at Makoto Taiko's 10th Anniversary Concert at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on August 22, 2009.

Naoki Takizawa presented his last ever Issey Miyake collection at the Musée de l'Homme in Paris on 3 October 2006. Keeping up his relationship with nature, the designer chose to work on the idea of transformation, concentrating on the image of a butterfly evolving from a cocoon. The garments are varying and adjustable. The indigo and marine blue pleated tops are worn over mini-shorts and become, in one simple move, tie-dye dresses. The blue jeans, of varying materials and in different shapes, accentuate the wild side of the collection. And nature is represented by tops with floral designs and with big ribs reminding us of the creepers in the jungle.
