WNY&P 637 -631- 638 are north bound on the NS Buffalo Line with the Driftwood turn. After switching cars, we watch as Brain Welch handles the throttle leaving Turtle Point, PA. Fine show of what Alco's are all about. The second clip at South Eldred has the north bound DFT meeting the Farmers Valley train with ex NYC-PC C430 #431 running long hood forward. Caterpillar powered Alco (MLW) ex-CPR 4711, 4/15/2000
Ex-Canadian Pacific 4711 is now a Minnesota Comercial #71. It was a M636 until it original engine was replaced by a 3608 Caterpillar by Peaker Services Inc in Brighton Michigan in 1988,. It is now classed as a M630CAT. It was sold to the MC along with the #73, which has since been sold, and running on the WNY&P, which can be seen in my other clips. We wher not trackside when this three unit set left SaintPaul with a frieght, but we certainly did hear it, and the sound of the ALCO-GE-CAT was fantastic. Thanks for watching, Jackmp294...

Delaware-Lackawanna ALCo and MLW locomotives bring freight through Scranton and Taylor, PA
Delaware-Lackawanna locomotives #3000, a Montreal Locomotive Works M630 formerly operated by the British Columbia Railway and GE, and #2453, an ALCo C-425 built for the Erie-Lackwanna and also once used by the British Columbia Railway, bring a train of interchange cars down to the Canadian Pacific yard in Taylor, PA. The train is first seen coming through Hyde Park in West Scranton as it comes off the DL Pocono Main and on to CPR's ex Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Bloomsburg Branch. The train proceeds to the former DL&W yard in Taylor, PA where the interchange cars are left for the CPR. The locomotives then head light back to Scranton where they will tie up near Bridge 60 Tower at the Steamtown National Historic Site. As part of the Genesee Valley Transportation network of shortlines, the DL has grown from a humble start. Today it connects Scranton with Carbondale, Taylor and East Stroudsburg while offering interchange with the CPR, Norfolk Southern and the Reading & Northern. The DL operates lines that were once part of the DL&W and Delaware & Hudson railroads. This video was shot on a Canon 5D which I am still experimenting with.

The Ontario Southland is putting on a great show switching cars at Guelph Ontario. The throttle response is instantaneous, unlike GE and EMD. The sounds are great. This locomotive is sidelined at this time due to crank shaft failure. It MAY be repaired if funds alow. Keep your fingers crossed ALCO-MLW fans, that this beautiful old girl returns to the rails. 10-03-2005

ALCO (MLW)- EMD sound battle at Foleyet, Ont. 9/20/95
A east bound CN freight leaves Foleyet Ontario on September 20, 1995 with a SD40-2 leading a MLW HR616. The sound battle starts, and goes back and forth with the two. EMD sounds great, but I perfer the sound of that ALCO prime-mover best. But that's only my opinion, since I'm and Alcoholic... Just some info on the HR-616. There was only 20 HR616 built. They where built in 1982, and retired early 1990's. The HR stood for high reliability, which they where not. Lots of electrical problems. The 616 was for 6 axles, 16 cylinder. Some where scraped, some went to NRE in Illinois. I can find nothing about them on their site. So who knows where they are now. Thanks for watching. Jackmp294.5...

Great sounding Spruce Falls ALCO (MLW), does his switching chores, and finishes just in time.
We are at Kapuskasing Ontario, waiting for the ONR to come in and set out cars picked up at Cochrane. While waiting, the Spruce Falls #108 comes out to quickly set out cars. The turbo charged switcher sounds great as he goes back and forth past the camera. As he finishes, the ONR comes in with GP9 1605, and GP38 1805. To round everything off, a Molson truck passes with the load of great tasting Canadian beer. The chase is on! Filmed on 9/19/1996. Just an update on the Spruce Falls 108. I have been told it is leaving the OVR yard tomorrow on train #431, (8-18-2011) and heading to Sudbury to be scraped. Thanks for the update Andy, but truely sad news for this MLW RS23. Ontario Southland Rwy 180-506 have a short train south of Guelph, Ontario. The train is rockin and rollin on the jointed rail. The RS18 is now out of service because of crankshaft failure. Plans are to replace the prime mover, but only funds become available. 10-3-2005

US Gypsum ALCo/MLW DL535 Narrow Gauge Locomotive
US Gypsum in Plaster City, California has a unique 3' narrow gauge railroad used to transport gypsum from its quarry. I caught the ALCo DL535 #111 blowing its horn and crossing the street on its way to pick up empties. It's a six axle unit with a Canadian Safety Cab, typical of Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) built units.

WNY&P RR is running some rare power on their line between Meadville, Pa and Hornell, NY and the recently aquired line from NS, the old PRR Harrisburg-Buffalo line from Driftwood Pa to Machais NY. Alco and MLW power rules the both lines. I caught C430 #431 switching the yard at Olean, NY. This loco is original NYC Alco, and then sold to Morristown & Erie before coming to the WNY&P.

June 1996-- I heard NS Vardo yard talking to W&W local in Hagerstown, Md. I was able to catch the local dropping of its train and picking up his outbound cars. This Alco RS11 #863 may have been the last one to operate in service on the W&W into Hagerstown, Md, it wasnt to long after this video that EMD GP9 units started showing up.

Just outside of Sudbury, Ontario, the conductor lines the switch and gives the OK, as four MLW's get underway up the grade on the Nickle Sub toward the Inco Plant at Copper Cliff. 9/19/1993

two HO scale locomotive from Proto-1000. Paint removed , apply action red paint scheme , decals applied , DCC equip. That project take me 4 years , throught rare spare time :a new home , two sons and working hard at job,FINALLY my models are completed. YEP! Tonight's freight 23502 had the transfer job of Speno train consist from Oinoi to Salonica...But at Oinoi station the Speno railgrinder had air brakes problem and was not able to move....I don't know if they fixed it at the end...It was too late and far from home to stay and see

Word spread of CP's last MLW/Alco on roster, ex C424 #4236 now control cab #1100 on train 220 out of Mactier south bound for Toronto. With the sun setting and video camera rolling she came rolling by marshalled as the fifth car in the train consist. Looking a little rough but still in CP colours she shined in the sun light going to a better place to be restored.

A trip through Nova Scotia gave me a day to see and video tape some CB&CNS and DEVCO train operations in Sydney. The first day Part 1 of the tape the weather was overcast with rain. I caught RS18 3675 switching the Yard and 3 C630m bringing the daily train from Truro(I think) to Sydney. I happen to catch the DEVCO train leaving Sydney with and empty coal train heading to some coal mine. The CB&CNS was 100% ALCO-MLW at this time Sept 01,1994
