Creating a seeing AI in Multimedia Fusion 2 or any Clickteam program part 1

For Part 2: www.youtube.com In this tutorial I show you how to create a very simple yet effective seeing AI without using any non-standard add-ons in Multimedia Fusion 2 (MMF 2). By having the enemy shoot objects that hold an identifier value and effect the shooting object, we can give each enemy a independant AI mode and response. This also works with The Games Factory (TGF), Multimedia Fusion (MMF 1) and Click 'n Create (CnC). This technique was devised by Jon Robson, after working with him on SPy and SPy 2 (two South Park fan games), I learnt how to do this and have since then adapted the method although the core logistics remain the same. MMF2 FPS

www.bvoll.com !!The engine I updated for my own style has been lost in a harddrive crash!! Attempts to retrieve it have failed unfortunately. Original engine goes to Margarian Christophe, but I heavily modified it. The engine is about 5% done. I started it today, I'm hoping to finish it and actually make a game out of it. It is based off the Mode 7 extension for Multimedia Fusion 2. Like most Mode 7 games, it is really a top down shooter (in this case), there is a problem with the "aiming" so as you can see in the video the enemy doesn't die right away. Also there are no animations on the sprites. Things planned for it the engine -Ability to see where your bullets are going. -Different Weapons: automatic, single shot, melee -WiiMote support (maybe) -Animated sprites -Better AI (they just bounce of walls now, but I can make them so they follow) -Ammo system? -more I don't know if upper/lower floors are possible, actually I'm about 95% sure it's not possible, and the size of the map is not going to be any bigger than what's in the video, and the walls won't be any bigger either. But there can be different style levels. I pretty much want to make my game, Lost, into a 3d FPS. Like my very original idea for it, but was not possible. When this engine is done, it will be as close as I can get it with MMF2. Obviously this is my first somewhat 3D project, so I wouldn't expect anything remotely close to any other mode 7 game, (sonic cd's special stage, Mario Kart SNES, GBA, etc etc).

MMF2 Tutorial: Making a Platform Game Part 3: Artificial Intelligence

Learning Target: By the end of this video you will be able to have enemies stop shooting when they are out of fire range and/or out of sight, have enemies shoot right at you, have enemies move toward you when you are out of firing range (but only if they can see you), and how to have an enemy only see the things that he's facing toward Difficulty Level: 6/10 Programs Used: Multimedia Fusion 2 Notes: This is a little bit more advanced than most of the tutorials i do. I figure I've done enough beginner stuff and am ready to move on to harder subjects. After all, AI is pretty hard to describe at a beginner level. By the way a lot of people just have the enemy shoot invisible objects in the direction the enemies facing, but I think this is a much better, more accurate way to do it and it causes less glitches.

Megaman 2 Multiplayer (Made with Multimedia Fusion 2 aka MMF2) Gameplay

This is a development video log update for Megaman 2 Multiplayer - a fan made Megaman 2 remake with multiplayer features. At last another update video, at last some gameplay. Here you can see the degree of freedom Player 2 has in moving the boss robots. I've strived for maximum accuracy to the original game with a bit of extra freedom to move in a less predictable way. Turn on annotations for an explanation. Incidentally, I (Rich) was mostly playing as the bosses in this video, while my housmate (Ash) played as Megaman so I could get a bit of battling. The final year of uni is starting for me soon, so the amount of work I have to do will decide how much time I have to work on this. Probably a month or two and I could release a demo of the first four bosses (Crashman, Heatman, Woodman, Metalman), and about 2-4 more months to have the entire battle part of the game finished. Depending how much demand there is after that I might add more features. :)

www.create-games.com (This is development progress video on a fan-made multiplayer remake of Megaman 2) There has been pretty huge progress as you can see. There is now a nice single-frame engine just lacking a few things, and needing a few minor fixes. I've also moved the deadline for the complete 2-player offline game forward to the end of April. Which means in March I will be releasing a new demo as each boss is complete. It's the final segment of my incredible RPG series. I recently found out that YouTube now has no time limit on videos so this one got a little long. I also show an exclusive RPG example I made, and the charecter customizer of the mmorpg I'm working on. last I show you my 2 favorite websites that help me with game design. Goofing off in Multimedia Fusion 2

This is an old Mario engine I ported into the newly released Multimedia Fusion 2 to test out it's new features. Among the new features: - Scaling and Rotation - Proper Additive/Subtraction blending modes - OGG and Module support - A faster rendering engine I test most of them in this video. For instance, Luigi, for his different sizes, is scaled in real-time. The Boo ghosts use Additive blending (to make them appear glowy). The darkness effect is using Subtractive blending (in combination with scaling to make it appear as if you are adjusting the lighting level). Rotation is used on Luigi when he runs (he leans forward slightly) - it's also used on the Mega Mushroom. Dunno really what to do with this engine. Was planning on maybe making a level editor for it, but I only have six days left on my MMF2 demo.
Multimedia Fusion 2: "PacoTaco Mecha-Madness"- Beta Footage

Engine room test for an insane little beat em up I've been making. Features myself (Paco) and my bud Taco against a horde of robots and evil villains to prevent world domination from the grasp of General Sirmanguydude. The characters each have a decent amount of attacks, even in this beta, and can use these attacks (as well as insane special attacks) to really rip apart the oncoming enemies. Seen here are the awesome Box Bots (even though they don't attack yet) and the first miniboss of the game: Centifusion, a robotic centipede. Thanks to the video recording program..FPS rate at 24-27, but in actuality, the game runs at a buttery-smooth 60 FPS. ;] Available sometime in the next millennium. =]

MMF2 Isometric Shooter game Tutorial Part 01

I'm going in at the deep end. I spent years and years making games, getting further and further each time, adding more complex events to each version. Here I'm going to show you how to make an isometric shooter with all of the bells and whistles you could possibly want for a fairly complex game made with MMF2. I can't do 3D with this game maker, and above view lacks the graphical detail included with side view games, so I've gone for an isometric shooter, complete with guns, ammo and walls you can run in front of / behind. I'll be adding to it (If people actually find it useful) soon. THIS IS PART 1. In this, you find out how to draw things, program in the movement and hwo to program in a gun you can pick up and fire. In part 2 of this tutorial I go back over what I have programmed and have made it more complex. I will go fast, if you want to slow down you'll have to use the pause button. To talk you through all of this in great depth would take hours, I'm just assuming that you want to make your dream game and don't care about learning anything other than how to do it. Here is a link to the game's code (so you can refer back to it.) It's messy, fast and furious, but this gives me a chance to make a fairly substantial shooter whilst showing you how to (albeit quickly). I suggest that you learn how to make a bat and ball game before watching this, simply to give you a brief outline on how to make games. It isn't necessary, however. I hope this tutorial helps you to some ...
