Josiah McElheny presenting at MoMA

Josiah McElheny presenting as part of the program "Artists and Models" on March 12, 2007 (edited for time). For the exhibition Josiah McElheny presenting as part of the program "Artists and Models" on March 12, 2007 (edited for time). For the exhibition Projects 84, artist Josiah McElheny created a sculptural installation of crystalline glass, metal, and colored light that drew upon the visionary schemes of Paul Scheerbart, the Berlin poet and novelist, and Bruno Taut, the uncrowned leader of the circle of revolutionary architects that emerged in Berlin after World War I. McElheny's model-scale landscape depicting two structures—an "Alpine Cathedral" and a "City-Crown"—was a critique of the utopian ideals embodied in twentieth-century modernism. For more information on the exhibition, please visit: www.moma.org Audio of the program, including a presentation by Joshua Siegel, the curator of the exhibition, is available at: moma.org _2007.html © 2007 The Museum of Modern Art, New York Images courtesy of Josiah McElheny

MoMA NYC augmented reality exhibition

sndrv.nl - Uninvited augmented reality art exhibition in the Museum of Modern Art New York, organised by Sander Veenhof and Mark Skwarek including works of AR artists worldwide through an open call. Opening: October 9th, but since then permanently on view in and around the MoMA. The event illustrates the implications of a technique named "augmented reality": the addition of virtual elements to the real world, viewable using internet-connected and GPS sensitive cameraphones. Augmented reality is chaning our world. In terms of new unlimited visual possibilities, limitless dimensional properties and an unwillingness to comply to (former) physical boundaries and structures, such as a museum wall or context. The 6 floors of the MoMA building were used in a DIY way, and the museum was even extended with a virtual 7th floor. More info: sndrv.nl

MoMA Film Trailer: Ce qu'il faut pour vivre (The Necessities of Life)

Screening at MoMA as part of the Film exhibition Canadian Front 2009. For more information please visit: www.moma.org Ce qu'il faut pour vivre (The Necessities of Life). 2008. Canada. Directed by Benoit Pilon. Written by Bernard Émond. With Natar Ungalaaq, Eveline Gélinas, Vincent-Guillaume Otis. Canada's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year's Academy Awards is a poignant, lump-in-the-throat melodrama about displacement. Ungalaaq, the Inuit star of The Fast Runner, plays a man wrenched from his family and community when he is diagnosed with tuberculosis in the mid 1950s. The former hunter must convalesce in a strange land where seasons are as foreign to him as the French spoken in the sanatorium. Both director and writer are Canadian Front veterans, Pilon with his documentary Roger Toupin, and Émond with two dramas, Summit Circle and 20h17 rue Darling. Courtesy of IFC Films. In French, Inuktitut; English subtitles. 102 min. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, 7:00 pm, Theater 1, T1 (East Coast premiere) Sunday, March 22, 2009, 1:00 pm, Theater 2, T2 (East Coast premiere)
