274kmph (171mph) Monaro Autobahn Run
OK - so after the 144mph run last week that saw the car only get up into 5th gear and no more I took the car out for another run when the roads were a little quieter... First Autobahn section - ie catching up to Silver AMG merc which flew past at beginning of clip - 225kmph (141mph) done in 4th gear with plenty left to go. Onto next Autobahn - first stint up until blue mondeo - 147mph (235mph) in start of 5th before lifting off to slow down. Then once he's moved over it's near redline in 4th and then up into 5th again - 3min41sec marker - Redline approaching in 5th doing 274kmph (171mph), change up to 6th and shortly after let off the power again due to cars in distance that I know I'll be catching up with in no time. The annoying rattle - I thought it was down to the mount being on the passenger seat previously which had no weight on it, so I moved it this time, yet it's still there. The strange thing is that I don't hear the rattling noise when driving so the mic on the camera must be fairly sensitive - I would throw music over the top but there would be no fun in that, as half the enjoyment of driving a big V8 is listening to the sound coming from the engine itself! Hopefully this will show a little better to those who aren't too familiar with the Monaro just what it's capable of doing... ;)

Twin Turbo LS1-Powered HK Monaro on Dyno
Rodney Ritchie used to run a serious procharger blow-through set-up on his HG Monaro but he's ripped that out and fitted a 406ci LS1 with twin T04Z turbos. It doesn't run alot of boost but it sure makes enough power. It won the dyno at Winton's Performance Car Mania with 731rwhp. Rodney now plans to finish things off with an intercooler and pump up the boost for even more power, and possibly have a crack at Modified Street Blown in the APSA series.

We caught up with the top alcohol dragster driver who so nearly won the NZDRA Top Alcohol Series Championship this year. From only one season in Supercharged Outlaws which he won, Todd was given the keys to the Vincent family dragster as a 21st birthday present. Todd Vincent the fastest 21 year old in New Zealand.

Monaro VXR500 noise at cruising speed
This clip is just here to show what a Vauxhall Monaro VXR500 sounds like from inside the cabin whilst cruising through the village at low speed, nothing fancy and nothing silly, just a quick video of V8 rumbling (with supercharger whistling :) This car has the LS2 6.0 litre V8 with Harrop H112 supercharger running at 6PSI, plus Wortec exhaust with headers, and a Monkfish magic cam with custom map. Power is approx 530bhp at the fly, and around 400-410bhp at the wheels. I occasionally have to run to the station at 6am, so you can imagine how popular I am with the neighbours - particularly considering the car is MUCH louder on the outside than inside! Supercharged 6 litre V8 still sounds amazing even at low speeds. Next video will be a tunnel run.
