Sites & Sounds: Flea Market @ Monastiraki, Athens

Boisterous, multicolored, multiethnic and among a cluster of archeological sites at the feet of the Acropolis, the flea market at Monastiraki never sleeps. From Abyssinias Square, the heart of the flea market, street vendors span over the streets of Ermou, Adrianou, Areos and Monastiraki Square. More recently the "Union of People who Pick Rubbish" annexed their flea market to the south end of Ermou Street. A tourist must on any day and the only market open on Sundays in Athens. Don't forget to bargain. I shot this video, with my mobile phone, on the first Sunday of June 2007. I used erightsoft's SUPER to convert my mobile's 3GP files to AVIs before editing with Windows Movie Maker.
