Le Studio of Morin-Heights is a legend in the music industry. For me, it is only a 15 minutes drive. I went there this weekend to show the place to my good friend Pierre. I was expecting things to have changed a little since I have not been there for a while. But, what I found was devastating for me. The giant Dragon is no longer breathing. The place is empty and in a very poor state. For all the Rush fans you will see the room where TOM SAWYER and LIMELIGHT videos were shot, with a pool table siting where Neil Peart's drumkit was installed. I took a shot of the lake behind the Studio. I'm very sad that this place is no longer in use. It had an incredible spirit. It was a masterpiece from Andre Perry a genius in audio recording, a reference all over the world. I wish I could do something to turn back time and fix this. this cannot be. It was a magical place. A lost jewel. 29-05-2010. I also included photos from a visit in Le Studio when RUSH was recording Presto. Much happier times.

The Mongolian Horse Fiddle -Монгол Улсын Морин Хуурын Чуулга The Morin Khuur (horse-head fiddle) is the instrument most associated with Mongolian traditions and culture. Mor(in) means horse. When Mongolians were entirely a nomadic nation, the horse was almost their only means of transport, as well as man's best friend. Many songs and poems were written extolling the horse. There are a number of legends about how the Morin Khuur was first created, all based on a man's love for a dead horse. So central was (and still is) the horse to Mongolian culture, that the head of the horse was placed on top of the nation's principal musical instrument, and its tail hair is used for the two strings and for the bow. Much of the canon of Mongolian performance art (song, dance, drama, stories, even blessings) is inseparably entwined with the music of the Morin Khuur. But it is not simply a traditional instrument; its special sound contributes much to the quality of modern music. For hundreds of years the instrument itself changed little until the twentieth century, when there were developments to playing technique and even to the Morin Khuur`s construction. More and more people are visiting Mongolia. As culture becomes more globalized, we hope this book will help foreigners learn to play the Morin Khuur and spread the word about Mongolia `s national instrument throughout the world.

A mongolian orchestra "Hosoo Transmongolia" gives a concert in St. Jacobs Church in Copenhagen, Denmark. They play traditional Mongolian folkmusic and they use a very speciel songtechnique, "Mongolian höömii". It is a kind of "throat song" where overtones appear and become the main sound in song. The orchestra uses traditional instruments, morin khuur (horsehead fiddle),ikh khuur (horse head bass), ever buree (oboe) and traditional drum. The songs are from different parts of mongolia. Many of the songs are about horses and the life on the mongolian steppe, and some songs are shaman songs.
