80's Jam with Roland Juno 6 / MPC 2000 / Multivox MX-201 Tape Echo / TR-505 / SPX-90
An 80's style jam on the Juno, brought the Multivox MX-201 tape echo into the mix. The Juno is running through the Yamaha SPX-90 for a little reverb and flange, and some of the MPC snares and percussion is run through the Multivox for the spring reverb and a little tape delay. I figured out how to tune a kick pattern to register as a single arpeggio clock in on the Juno, so you can hear the arpeggios are consistent on this one, unlike the last one where the arpeggios were random from the 505. It's nice to be able to control the arpeggios, but I do actually like the random element, so I think I'll probably use the more random kick patterns I did before. TR-606 and Doepfar MSY-2 coming soon!! Note: I reuploaded this one to replace the previous version, mixed the kick much further down in this one. Enjoy! My first attempt with better sound and video quality. The audio levels are still not perfect; I am piping line-level audio into a mic input on the side of my little Kodak Zi8, so even after turning the MPC volume waaaay down, some parts are still too loud. Song sampled is 'Across 110th St.' Not the rarest beat by any means but it's what I had to hand.

From Scratch (MPC 2000XL Beat) Part One
You see me start from square one. I sample the drums and chop them. I make a drum pattern. I then look for a sample and put it into the MPC. In part two I make a 2 bar sequence after I chop the sample and assign it to the pads. I wanted to show you guys my workflow on the XL. Let me know what you think of the beat at the end.
