ACT AED Day at Queen's Park: On February 24, 2010, the ACT Foundation, partners and students gave MPPs at Queen's Park a lesson in lifesaving. To date, more than one million Ontario youth have been trained in the ACT High School CPR Program. Now, in partnership with the Government of Ontario, ACT is bringing the AED enhancement to Ontario high schools. To date, more than 27000 students have been trained in both CPR and AED. Ontario High School Students Prepare to Give MPPs a Lesson in Lifesaving - ACT Foundation
February 23, 2010: Ontario students prepare to share the lifesaving skills they learned from the ACT High School CPR and AED Program with Ontario MPPs. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is an easy-to-use device that can tell when a heart stops beating effectively and deliver an electric shock to help it restart. In 2008, the Government of Ontario committed $1.4 million to help the ACT Foundation enhance the CPR program it was already setting up in all high schools, with AED training for students and AEDs for high schools. To date, more than one million Ontario youth have been trained in the ACT High School CPR Program. Now, as ACT brings the AED enhancement to Ontario high schools, more than 27000 students have been trained in both CPR and AED. The Government of Ontario grant supports the training of teachers as CPR and AED instructors for their Grade 9 students, the purchase of AED training equipment and the placement of defibrillators in high schools.
