Thanks to everyone who supported this project! Originally designed for a computer music class, the invisible violin was used to perform a simple violin piece written for a theory class. The wiimote/bioglove capabilities shown in this video only demonstrate a small portion of its actual use. The program I designed is in Max/MSP. The invisible violin, using the same program, has configurations for piano and drum set. One of which, the MSP430G2231 is preloaded with demo functionality demonstrating it's on chip peripherals such at 10-bit ADC and 16-bit timers. The demo is a temperature sensor, which reports changes in temperature by varying the brightness of LaunchPad's on-board LEDs. Also, real time temperature data is communicated back to a PC using a software-implemented UART.

I made this video as a starting point for people who have never used Max/MSP before. I make a very simple patch and do my best to explain how it works. Objects I use: number - the basic number box. only does integers. button - takes any input and outputs a bang (also turns yellow) you can click on it to do the same thing flonum - similar to number but it can work with decimals blank object box - allows you to type in the object that you want cycle~ - this object is a sine wav generator. it creates a sine wave at whatever frequency you tell it to. it is a MSP object and its output is audio. *~ - multiply audio object. This takes the signal from the cycle~ object (which is -1 to 1) and multiplies it by .25 which changes the range of the audio signal to -0.25 to 0.25 amplitude.
