Vacationer Wanted!!! The first trip Cindy and I took to the Caribbean was for 2 weeks with Air Transat back in 2007, we stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba for one week and the Grand Palladium Colonial for the second week. Then in October 2007 we quit our construction jobs and decided we were going to go for it. We were going to make travel videos for YouTube because through technology our world had changed, the once dominant print media was loosing their market share to the internet. Newspapers and magazines had travel writers, we would become independent travel video film makers. Travel was the worlds largest economy and even today you can't name a destination that does not depend to some extent on travel and tourism. With passion, vision and an eye towards the future we jumped in with both feet - six consecutive weeks in the Caribbean at six destinations and six resorts. We left Kelowna with approx. 330000 views to our YouTube Channel. Six weeks later we had 4 million, as a video of a tarantula on my hand went viral. Hey, everybody! Here's my music video for "Very Happy Song" from my second solo CD, "This Way Up". This song was written in response to a dear friend asking for me to write a happy song.. I told her I don't like happy art, that all good art comes from struggle, pain, alienation or heartache. I thought about it and decided to write one anyway. In fact she inspired the tone of the whole album to be more positive in tempo and lyric and I'm grateful for that, but I couldn't help but write a sardonic and sarcastic lyric for this one, given the times we are in today. When the #occupy movement started out with less than 100 protesters in Zuccotti Park, it resonated for me as a musician who struggled to make a living for most of my adult life. I have been plugged in to politics since I was a kid and now realize I'm a total political geek! On a recent trip to NYC, I grabbed a cab to see the burgeoning protest at Zuccotti for myself and sang along to my song while walking thru the occupy camp. The 31st Hole: In order to be a successful ice-fisherman, you have to be mobile. I had to drill 31 holes on the ice before I was in bluegill Nirvana. Once I found the right depth and structure, I had non-stop action for 2 hours. I will fish every hole I drill for a couple of minutes, but I need to be marking fish with my Vexilar flasher to keep my attention. If there are no fish, it is on to the next hole. This is where the Vexilar is so DOMINANT. Once you mark fish, IT IS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!! It is so cool watching a fish swim right up to your bait/lure. BAM!!! Why Ice-Fishing??? I cant believe how much fun this recreational activity is. This is the first time in my adult-life where I want the winter to continue. I get a ton of out-door exercise and the fishing has been incredible this whole winter season. And ice-fishing is so unique. You can explore any portion of the water via ambulation. It is as if the lake is just one big boat deck. BE SURE TO BE SAFE (ie spud, life jacket, avoiding current, springs, etc.) This ice was 8 inches thick. Drilling Holes: My goal was to DOMINATE the ice this season. I have gotten some unique strength from manually drilling holes all winter long. It does require a wide range of muscles to do this odd activity; but I must admit, I really enjoy this form of exercise. I am running all over the ice drilling holes and chasing tip-ups. This starts on grass, then moves to jumps, then moves to jumps from both sides, then through cover. then I start bringing movement in until I can walk an entire big circle around the dog throwing marks and having him return. The drill evolved because what I was initially trying to do years and years ago was I wanted to be able to get away from the dog, and teach him with a collar to look at the object and not me when I was at that angle. My dogs already knew how to look at me with the collar, and to look away at something else when I was next to them, but I was fiddling with some ideas to have them look at objects and distinguish the difference between looking at me and looking at the object from these obscure angles. This was back in probably about '93' or '94' maybe. Had absolutely nothing to do with field dogs, but I quickly learned I could do a whole bunch of neat stuff with it. The other part of the equation was trying to use the collar to get the dog to run past me without looking at me, and if I had to straighten him out, for him not to see it meaning to stop and look or whatever. In a perfect world, I wanted him to run right by me and pick it up and run right back by me without glancing. Yet, I still needed to get his attention at times, and I certainly needed him looking at me if I had to stop him and cast him back to his spot <b>...</b>

My whole life I have been a musician, a performer, a singer, a monkey on a stage. God delivered me from a life that was spiraling out of control. Naturally I thought that becoming a Christian meant that God had plans for me to become a world renowned Christian artist like Michael W. Smith or Michael Tait. It only made sense right? After all, I was a seasoned front man, singer, lead guitarist with a decade of touring under my belt. Well guess what...I was WRONG! In fact after a brief stint on a very coveted Christian stage in a famous Kansas City church the Lord closed all doors. I mean ALL of them! It was NOT easy. I was in the wilderness with no musical outlet struggling to become a responsible adult (after all 11 years on the road sleeping till 12 everyday is some major conditioning to break) So the Lord allowed my music to die and moreover for the first time in my life my desire to do music died to. I was lost. I learned many things along the way though, probably the biggest thing He taught me was that it's about the journey not the destination. It's really about walking humbly with my Creator. So where does that leave me today; filled with passion for the One who is perfecting me. Excited about waking each day, leaning on HIM and praying for big mighty things but being content and faithful in the little things. This little thing is something we were created to do. WORSHIP Him..Because He alone is worthy and I am learning to be faithful in the little things. Join me!

I grew up watching the TV Series Grizzly Adams and just loved it. I feel it was the building block of how I view Nature today. I cherish that I was able to find the whole series on DVD online for sale and add it to my collection. In 2010, 1500 miles away in Colfax, Wash., that mother and son reunited. There are moments in life that define life and this reunion is one of those moments. Well, here is another update, a post chemo #3 update. I am still not feeling so great. For some reason this treatment has been harder on me. It has been a longer recovery. The worse day this time, was better than the worse day last time, but I feel like its more drawn out with chemo 3. Im still nauseous and very tired. This whole thing has really not been fun. Im trying to stay optimistic and make the most of all of this. Although no time is a good time for cancer, I am trying to look at it as a decent time. I am not sure how this is going to change things in my life, but I know I want to make something good out of this. #livestrong
