Nakheel has announced plans to build an exclusive new $80m restaurant and shopping area at the tip of its Palm Jumeirah development in Dubai. The Pointe will be constructed at the tip of the Palm's trunk and will face the Atlantis hotel. It will cover 131000m2 and include 56120m2 of high end retail shops, and a combination of informal and formal dining, a 34130m2 promenade, marina with floating pontoons and computerised water fountain set offshore.

Nakheel Expects Eclectic Profit This Year
Nakheel's chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, said on Tuesday that his company had last month completed a complex debt restructuring which expects a post in its 2011 profit and will not require any additional financing in the coming year. The real estate developer, which built its islands in the shape of palms and other ambitious projects in the United Arab Emirates, was taken over by the Dubai government in August as part of Dubai World's restructuring deal. Dubai has already given as much as $8.71 billion to the property firm. Nakheel has written off up to $ 21.4 billion of its real estate assets due to the emirate's property crisis. Ali Rashid Lootah said, "There is growth in certain area, for example Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Island, there is growth so usually this is the sign of recovery in the sense that always, the good areas start moving first and we are confident in the sense that it's moving with increase in the prices so the demand is there and the prices are increasing so I think this is the best sign of recovery." The company's stand at this year's Cityscape was aimed at launching a new residential project on Palm Jumierah, one of the palm shaped islands. Nakheel awards contract to Al Marwan General Contracting Co Nakheel announced contracts worth AED 43 million for two key projects on Palm Jumeirah, its flagship master planned development in Dubai. Nakheel has awarded a contract for nearly AED 18 million to Al Marwan General Contracting Co. for infrastructure work on Frond N of Palm Jumeirah. On Sunday October 5, 2008, Nakheel announced the launch of the now delayed Nakheel Tower in the ballroom of The Atlantis Resort on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah. The Brand Experience developed the strategy and creative direction for this launch and then led a production team featuring some of the best in the business. This team included FiveCurrents, Obscura Digital, MC2, Big Foote Music and Sound, HQ Creative, David Campbell Design, Oneal Designs and a host of others. We also worked closely with The 7th Art, the branding agency for Nakheel Harbour & Tower. Arabian Business called the show "an impressive sight" and praised Nakheel for "stealing the (Cityscape Dubai) show before it had even started with the launch of a kilometre-high tower." Here's the third test-modeling video with yet another tower! Just this week during Dubai's "Cityscape" developer / architectural / real estate conference, Emaar's chief competitor Nakheel showcased their ambitious plans for "Nakheel Tower" - a skyscraper community of 200+ floors reaching at least 1000 meters (1KM or 3280 feet) high. The particular forum thread for the tower on Skyscrapercity's forums shows a height of 1170 meters and a width of 100 meters so that is what I modeled here in this video (the width of the bulk of the tower is about the same as the base of the Burj Dubai for reference). Being a skyscraper fan I thought it'd be interesting to put one of the former World Trade towers in a random island modeling of the game world - now coupled with the newest soon-to-be Earth's Tallest Structure, the Burj Dubai Tower in Dubai, UAE - updated even further with Nakheel's "Nakheel Tower". Again, the goal of the mod wasn't meant for testing the physics of the game but moreso accurately portraying the towers to help myself and others understand the scale where tall buildings once were and where they're going.
