Arreh Jaa Reh Hat Natkhat-Navrang(1959)

Navrang: A Riot of Colors Dinesh Raheja V Shantaram's colourful Navrang [1959], marked a hat-trick of successes, coming on the heels of the super successful musical Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje [1955], and the tale of prisoner reform Do Aankhen Barah Haath [1957]. Navrang begins with a direct communique by a director to his audience. In his brief but telling address, Shantaram lends credence to the rumours that he nearly lost his sight in an accident on the sets of his last venture, Do Aankhen Barah Haath. An eternal optimist, Shantaram reveals that during that temporary blindness, he saw some hitherto unseen colours of life. The riotously colourful Navrang is the creative realisation of that experience. The film's performances border on the theatrical and its sets are pastry pink. Yet Navrang is a must see thanks to its unusual thematic premise and C Ramchandra's unforgettable score set to Bharat Vyas' lyrics. Shantaram takes pains to communicate GD Madgulkar's difficult premise to the audience in a lucid manner. And succeeds. Married to a beautiful but domesticated woman, a poet creates a more glamorous image of her and starts relating to this fantasy. And Mohini [one who enamours] becomes the muse he seeks inspiration from. Unable to comprehend her husband's flights of fancy, the wife is perturbed by the mystery woman in her husband's life. Eventually, the film which has dichotomised the muse and the reality, fuses them at the end. The pre-Independence period enhances the ...

Navrang (1959) Dhartih hai Lal ,Aaj Ambar Hai Lal

Director: Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram Writers: GD Madgulkar (story) Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram (screenplay) A Kaleidoscope of the most beautiful imagery seen on the Indian screen. The relevance of Holi as related to the Battle of Plassey of 1757 ,in which the Indians were attacked by menial servants who robbed them along with the Bania class ,in a conspiracy of looting and religious conversions by the Church of England and the State. The East India company who played the menial class card ,along with the filthy mentality of the merchant class and thus made women and children their targets ,with muslim conversions and thus advocated burial for converted Christians. Many women of high aristocracy also learned to abuse to ward off evil menial hands. Many men and women were deprived of conjugal bliss and thus water and this movie clip very symbolically potrays as to how the arts and performances served to alleviate the pain of living alone imposed by evil muslims,East India company and The Bania /Jains of India during British subjugation which lasted 200 years and is again in India and America to wreck havoc with the countries and their good people advocating the maxim that "Jesus Christ went to Hell" and filled the ill begotten coffers of Organized crime of the Arabs and the British, imposing mass poverty ,crime and the joke that "God did not save the "Bhakt Prahaladh ."Bholi Bhali in the song refers to the worshipers of Bholenath or Shiva. Navrang(1959)Dhandeh ki kuch baat karo-kuch paisa jodoh

Navrang ,a lovely ode to color, but also to artistic inspiration. the main story here is how Divakar's wife serves as his muse, and i would hazard a guess that besides Shantaram wanting to revel in color after his brush with blindness, he also made this film in honor of his own muse - Sandhya. the duo made some highly respected films together, and in Navrang, she looks especially beautiful (in her own unconventional way). then there's the highly imaginative costumes and dance segments that Shantaram seems to have loved giving Sandhya. Navrang also contains references to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and the arts, the muse of artists and scholars alike; the deity which i've had the most personal interest in. the film begins and ends with Saraswati standing on a lotus; the ending shot differs in that it's in color and follows a song showing all of the faces of Mohini. Saraswati's vehicle is a swan, but she's often associated with peacocks, and the wife's name, Jamuna, is the name of a river (also known as Yamuna) which used to meet the ancient Saraswati River. Dance director Shaam imaginatively makes Mahipal swing from one bell to another in Tu chhupi hai kahan, while Sandhya famously balances a series of matkas on her head in Aadha hai chandrama raat aadhi. The choreographer even makes a ghungroo-sporting elephant adroitly match steps with Sandhya in Arre jaa re hath natkhat. Also Sandhya deftly doubles as a man (with the help of a mask), and a woman.
