One of the best self reflection master pieces by Jallal Eddine Rumi played by the Genesis World Music Ensemble conducted by Kader Rhanime featuring as lead soloist one of the World's leading Qawali vocalists "Ustad Humayun Khan" who sings this song in its native "Farsi". The musical melody is as old as the poem and dates back hundreds of years. In this performance Conductor Kader Rhanime who orchestrated and arranged the song conducts an orchestra with some of the World's best soloists and virtuosos from 11 countries: Alberto Mizrahi on Harmony Vocals (US-Greece), Haj Youness on Oud, Rachid Zerwal on Ney (Morocco), and Grammy winners: from Cuba: Horacio El Negor Henrandez on Drums and Victor Miranda on Bass, from Iran Shahin Shahida on Classical Guitar, and Howard Levy on Piano (USA). Kong Nay, Cambodian Chapei Master
When the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia in 1975, they killed nearly all of the country's intellectuals, artists and musicians. One of the few to survive was Kong Nay, a master of the stringed instrument known as the chapei. He was forced to perform songs praising the Khmer Rouge, and only managed to survive being executed when the Vietnamese overthrew the regime. Blind and in his 60s, he is one of the last chapei masters. Here he makes a rare US appearance at the 2007 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC.

The singer Lhasa de Sela passed away in her Montreal home on the night of January 1st 2010, just before midnight. She succumbed to breast cancer after a twenty-one month long struggle, which she faced with courage and determination. One of her last performances was her rendition of "Donne-moi la flute et chante" أعطني الناي وغنّ The lyrics were written by Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran and the song was originally made popular by Fairuz in the 1970s.
