Travel Guide New Mexico tm Ghost Towns New Mexico

The Land of Enchantment still echos with voices from its colorful past. These voices speak especially clearly from the ghost towns, mining camps, and little-known places that populate New Mexico's landscape. New Mexico's story is rich with history, from the Ancient Puebloan Indians, to Spanish explorers, pioneers traveling along the Santa Fe Trail, and prospectors in the 19th century. These many folks left their "footprints," not only along the many old trails in the "Land of Enchantment," but also on the many ruins and ghost towns that remain. Cuchillo, established by ranchers and farmers in the 1850s, was named for a nearby creek and a local Apache chief, Cuchillo Negro (Black Knife). Midway between the mines at Chloride and Winston and the railroad at Engle, it flourished as a stage stop and trade center from the 1880s to the 1930s. Charming original buildings still stand, including the Cuchillo Bar and Store, and San Jose Catholic Church, built in 1907 Chloride was founded in 1880. Englishman Harry Pye had discovered silver ore there in the late 1870s, and soon after Pye was killed by Apaches, word of the silver find got out. Despite the threat of Indian attacks Chloride grew to over 3000 people. In its heyday it had nine saloons, a general store, a dry goods store, a millinery shop, a restaurant, a butcher shop, a candy store, a pharmacy, a Chinese laundry, a photography studio, a school, and two hotels. The Black Range newspaper was printed in Chloride from 1882 to ...

Documentary about the 1980 New Mexico State Penitentiary Riots in which 33 inmates were killed. A truly chilling programme, when the inmates had control of the prison they dished out some truely brutal behaviour on fellow prisoners who were suspected of being snitches orsex offenders. en.wikipedia.org

WarPath New Mexico Extreme Rock Crawling Part 1

This is one of the most extreme rock crawling trails out there. Definately a favorite! Located in southern New Mexico this trail features one huge waterfall at the beginning and then some great crawling action with huge boulders and ledges. Our whole group made it through in a few hours with no real carnage. I would rate this trail a 9 or 10 on my extreme list. This one kept a smile on my face the entire time. And you know I'm coming back next year!

Southern New Mexico Winter Snowstorm Clip used on World News with Diane Sawyer

Part of my clip on Southern New Mexico Winter Snowstorm: youtu.be was used on "World News with Diane Sawyer," on ABC News for a piece they did about the weather across the nation. Don't look away from the screen or you might miss my little 5 seconds of fame, haha. Here is a link to the story, used with permission from ABC: abcnews.go.com I've lived in southern New Mexico for about 10 years now, and this is about the worst winter snowstorm or blizzard that I have ever seen here. Usually it snows and is gone by afternoon, and only a rare day or so per winter. So maybe snow, snowstorm, ice cold, blizzard, snowdrift, snowplough, snow patrol, snowballs, snow days and the snowman are just a few examples that New Mexicans have in store for them in the upcoming winter, not to mention the severe weather and climate changes that seem to be happening all over the world. --------------- The Secret PLace - www.youtube.com HIGHLIGHT REEL - youtu.be Freaky little 3D Warped Music Video - youtu.be Monster Triceps Blast - youtu.be Why is it so hard to lose weight when you are old? youtu.be WAR in your Soul - youtu.be Free book - www.jesusfreakpc.com

Gila Wilderness, New Mexico - Baldy Fire May 2012

I shot a video of the Fire burning in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico from the top of Grouse Mountain on May 17th, 2012. This fire is still burning at this time (May 21st) and is now nearly 1000 acres. When I got back to my car the next day, there was a forest ranger there who told us they had just sent in rangers on horseback to look for anyone still in the area. There fire was caused by lightning according the the official Gila Forest website www.fs.usda.gov

FINDING GOLD X New Mexico Sunstone!

Gold/Gem locations: www.treasuresites.com New Mexico sunstone is both valuable and relatively easily obtainable. Gold and platinum are 15-19 times heavier than other streambed materials and concentrate in low pressure areas and cracks that run across rivers and streams. You look for a crack on the bank, and follow it out until you meet the "gold line" and there you suck it out with your dredge. Gold will be on the outside edge of a river gravel bar, at the head of the bar (large gold but usually beneath big boulders), and at the tail end of a bar (vast concentrations due to river bars forming in the shape of an airfoil and sucking fine gold to the tail end) but be small to microscopic at the tail end. Gold will travel down a river or stream in a line, usually off center of the high pressure water. Gold will settle behind a boulder. A good place to fish, can also be an excellent place to find gold. "Black sand" is iron ore that can be readilly identified in gravel bars and is a ready indicator that gold is probably present. The most effective and economical way for the average person to find paying concentrations of gold in a river or stream is with a simple ($80) sluice that you shovel into and the riffles retain gold, platinum, gems and anything heavy for you. Gold can be found up high on the old river channels and recovered with metal detectors, a gold wheel, a highbanker, or simply by identifying the material, shoveling it in your truck and working it out later in a ...

Scariest Places on Earth (Dorsey Mansion, New Mexico)

A 19th century mansion located in New Mexico is investigated by a Navajo Shaman. A cleansing ceremony is performed where human remains were once found. This is one of the earliest productions of the SPOE series. Though kinda quirky and stupid, this show actually paved the way for all of the rest we see on TV today. Coincidentally, paranormal and ghost hunting programs has become quite popular over the past 10 years.

Johnny Hobo and The Freight Trains - New Mexico Song

Artist: Johnny Hobo and The Freight Trains Song: New Mexico Song Album: Caught in the Act of Not Being Awesome Lyrics: As he lights an American spirit He asks how I can smoke such shit I say there's nothing like chaining GPC ciggarettes. Cuz any smokes will kill ya But these will make you feel like it. I sit back down, on the parking lot curb And remember back to February The trip to Hartford And five minutes ago He was passed out on the staircase Trying to make it to his appartment but not making it all the way. And now he's driving us 100 miles an hour down the interstate Another beer in his hand Swearin' we won't be late. That was before everyone moved to New Mexico. They all left a couple of months ago Until the day my friend When I sleep on the floor of your van again I'll be waiting in this parking lot, and in my dreams, I am dirty broke, beautiful, and free. My hands clenched in a fist, and my face in a smile, after hitching to many miles. We aren't revolutionaries, but we are the revolution. And sometimes I think that the whole movement is just me and you And maybe we'd all be better off if that was true Cuz then we'd at least know where we stand And we could tell our comrades apart from the man cuz if the world isn't that simple Maybe this town is at least And if I'm not marching with them for war I'm sure not marching with you for peace Class traitor? What fucking ever! I'm just another middle class kid, too. But if I'm not good at changing, I'm good at self ...
