Students enter the education already split into four different variations, Visual Art, Programming, Design and Production or Art and Technology for the Next Generation Entertainment. The aim for our students to specialize early and become highly skilled in there specialization because we believe this will prepare them for the highly level we want to see continue in game development. The work placement is critical for the development of our students because it provides the practical necessity to focus and guides them into their specialization. Our students are taught an intensive 2.5 years before they go on their work placement in order to insure we provide companies with highly skilled students. At the work placement they must spend 20 weeks working at a company. The main purpose of the work placement is to gain the practical work experience within the game industry and explore where they will be and how they will contribute after they have graduated. On the basis of a plan, they will be working on an assignment within the company. This assignment in most cases is determined by the company and the student together. The assignment will be reviewed by the company supervisor and the student's supervising teacher, to be sure the requirements and competencies from school are being met. Throughout the year we offer work placements for companies and students.

After a week of hard work and concentration at the Northern Arizona University, us international students from the NHTV Breda, were in for a night of pure fun. NHTV will host the Global Game Jam 2012 and Never Ending Conference VIII 27 JANUARY 2012 NHTV's International Game Architecture and Design Academy will host The Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2012 that runs from the 27th through to the 29th of January. The GGJ is the world's largest game jam and occurs annually attracting a lot of world-wide attention. Game making enthusiasts join their local game jam location to form small teams and build a game within 48hours on the given theme. The Netherlands-Breda GGJ will start with The Never Ending Conference to inspire and motivate participants. The conference, on the Friday, will have selected guest speakers presenting exciting game development topics in the areas of Programming, Design, Visual Art and Indie Development. NHTV is expecting to host over 100 participants at this location, and hooked-up with other Netherlands locations, will show the world just how big game development is becoming in the Netherlands.
