For all of our non-sewers and sewers alike, here is a DIY caftan you can make without sewing skills. Caftans are free-flowing long tunics that originated in the middle east centuries ago. They have re-emerged throughout fashion history many times, most notably in the late 60's-early 70's (think Mrs. Roper and Maude). I, myself, LOVE a modern day caftan for lounging, relaxing, or accessorizing and wearing out. Sewers can sew instead of use the tape I show, and feel free to play with different fabrics and the depth of your slits and arm holes. Really light, airy fabrics or silk give a really sexy look. CARE: Most caftans (due to the fabric) are hand wash or spot clean. The trade off with the no-sew caftan is that the tape means a bit more time is necessary for care. I recommend spot cleaning with the no-sew option. Replace the tape with a straight stitch if you want to throw your caftan in the washing machine.

Season 9 of Project Runway aired tonight and I was feeling creative! I finally found the time and energy to create this much anticipated tutorial. Thanks for your patience! After illustrating the parts of a t-shirt, the video demonstrates the t-shirt transformation process. The preferred size to start with is a size or two LARGER than your normal size. A regular cut is also preferred. Supplies Needed 1 Large, Regular Cut t-shirt 1 Pair of Scissors - Do Not use scissors previously used to cut hair or paper. They can be dull and knocked, creating an unsafe work environment. Lay the t-shirt on a hard, flat surface. This makes the cutting process easier. Cut the shirt into 2 pieces - creating a front and back piece. Cut slits into the sides and if desired, the sleeves. Cut and remove the NECK BAND to create a scoop neck. I suppose you could create a V-neck also. Add slits if you like. This is your design. Double tie the slits as you would when tying a shoe lace. Tying creates the tension and cinch that ultimately gives the t-shirt a feminine and flattering fit. The first time that you try this, be sure to try the t-shirt on as you tie to gauge how tight to tie the slits. If you prefer a polished look, you can tie the slits on the inside of the shirt. This will create bulk on the inside but <b>...</b>

Cheap, easy..that is me and that is how I decorate..here is just a tip on how to cover a pillow with a pillow case. The pillow I used in this video measured 19 x 19ish. I used a standard size pillow case from any store near you. I only paid $1.00 for two of these that I show in the vid. Look for a print that you like, try to make sure that your pillow won't show through the case by getting a pillow case that has a print on it throughout. Doing this can change the entire mood of a room! Enjoy..
